Kerry fund-raiser in Birmingham (with Edwards) postponed
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 09:00 PM by JI7
i don't believe kerry himself was supposed to be here. he was supposed to be in new mexico. but interesting that both senators cancelled their plans to be in dc. but i hear the republicans cancelled or delayed the vote on the veterans bill. pretty disgusting of the republicans.

<Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign postponed a fund-raising event in Birmingham Tuesday night because the featured attraction at the event, Sen. John Edwards, was kept in Washington by Senate business.

Ted Hosp, Kerry's state campaign director, said the campaign hopes to reschedule Edwards' visit in July.

The Kerry campaign had announced Edwards' visit when opening their state campaign headquarters in Birmingham last week.>

2. and only because kerry came back to vote
if kerry had not come back they would have gone ahead with it and then attacked kerry for not voting.

3. Yes...I watched part of it today...
Got to see Kerry on the floor and loved his last line that was printed in one of the articles about letting the people vote in Nov.

But it was a delay action if I ever saw one. I did love Joe Bidden (sp) today. I really liked the way he presents things as he gets his point across.

7. I hope twice as much money is raised when it's rescheduled.

8. The talk with Edwards
may have been a discussion about starting a filibuster on the vote that GOP's have stalled in order to keep Kerry from voting on it.

May also be resspmsoble for cancellation of the fundraiser as well.

The Republicans putting the welfare of the country ahead of politics and party. You got to love them for it.

5. That's pretty dirty politics...to cancel after Kerry gets there.
And he cancelled a fund raiser. Well, Ijust hope Kerry and his camp can play dirty, too. Legal but dirty.

6. They used similar tactics last fall--when the Dems were holding
a debate in Baltimore, they quickly scheduled a vote.
