Kerry Honors Reagan in Speeches to Dems

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Ever since Ronald Reagan (news - web sites)'s death earlier this month, White House aspirant John Kerry (news - web sites) has been honoring the conservative icon even before the most partisan Democratic audiences.

Kerry and Reagan had many differences during the Washington of the 1980s. But in the aftermath of the 40th president's death, Kerry has lauded Reagan's bipartisanship and global leadership and held up his battle with Alzheimer's as an example of the need for stem cell research.

The unmistakable implication is that President Bush (news - web sites) isn't living up to Reagan's legacy.

"Leadership is lacking that asks people to come to the White House and sit for hours, as we used to with a Ronald Reagan, with George Herbert Walker Bush, with Bill Clinton (news - web sites), working at trying to find real solutions," Kerry said at a luncheon fund-raiser Monday in Aspen, Colo. "But not with these folks (in the Bush administration). It's my way or the highway."

1. Let's see, it has been estimated that Raygun spent no more than

a total of either three or six months in Washington during the whole horrible eight years. He was either "on vacation" or in the hospital ostensibly recovering from having allegedly been shot, getting moles removed, etc. After all, one doesn't just step out of office one day and the next day admit to suddenly being afflicted by Alzheimer’s. The Corporatists ran Raygun for office many times and finally, in the last and unfortunately successful election, they admitted that it was almost too late. The media treated that disastrous Presidency as the "Teflon Presidency" remember? When Raygun left office he left under the shadow of possible felony charges stemming from the illegal and unconstitutional Iran/Contra affair. There was even talk of impeachment. Republicans said at the time that, "the country can't stand another failed Presidency" so nothing was done. They apparently meant another failed Republican Presidency since they looked long and hard to find a reason to impeach the next President. During the Raygun years eight or so Knights of Malta ran the office and during that period used our tax money, our weaponry, including planes and pilots, our training at the "School of the Americas**", attacked several Central American countries so as to wipe out Liberation Theology and the people who were struggling to get out from under the repression of empirical feudalism that had been their lot for many years (and still is).

Why do you suppose Kerry would want to be associated with such a mess? How do you suppose there was even an opportunity to actually speak to Raygun much less "sit for hours" with him, Chances were good that Raygun would have slept through any meetings. The "working at trying to find real solutions," plea is really something. The "real solutions" the Democrats seem to have "found" in such discussions is to go right along with the Republicans. Democrats were in control of Congress back then and were, of course, the only bipartisan group in Washington. They failed to make the difference they could have made had they been principled and supportive of the people. Of course now that they are not in control of Congress it is easy to cut them out of consideration during this continuation of a Corporative (feudal) nation and the development of dictatorship and one party rule.

either 60 or 90 days that Raygun was supposed to have spent in Washington.

that the next president after Reagan was George Bush. I don't recall the attempts at impeachment.

7. Oh lots of people brought this up, Democrats of course, I cheered

and hoped it would happen but the Raygun wrongdoings were rapidly suppressed by politicos and media whores and the statement was made as I've reported-it is so sappy that I couldn't forget!

Do you remember when the rightwing nuts began the last of the many campaigns to elect Raygun? Bush was running against Raygun and there was a semi-secret conference actually "covered" (to a point) by the media. After the "conference" it was announced that George Bush would drop his candidicy in favor of Raygun and would become the Vice Presidential candidate. Probably a put-up job anyway.

4. the democrats really need to push the stem cell isssue

most of those against it are those who are very extreme right wingers and would never vote for kerry anyways. almost everyone else supports it, including some republicans who are against abortion but still want to see the benefits of this research.

6. Kerry Obviously Sees That The Reagan Democrats May Be In Play

And his picking up of the banner that Nancy Reagan's waves in her push for stem cell research is a clear sign of that.

Stem cell research is a worthy cause, but how much do you think Kerry would get behind it in this election season if it were not an issue that separarted Bush from Reagan?
