5. As a Kucinich suppoter...And a lifetime hardcore liberal Democrat....
Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 08:08 PM by Zinfandel
I would like to see Clark as Kerry's VP.

Does Edwards have the backround, the bite and stature of Clark?
I don't believe so...

Both are from the south, I like Edwards, but Clark would be so much effective and would take absolutely NO shit, from Rove's coming smears, lies and distortions.

13. Must be a Clark/Kucinich mutal admiration society
tonight!
I just posted that Edwards isn't the true populist from the primary - that honor would first go to Kucinich and then to Clark, who both started out in life much poorer than Edwards.
Clark's family, of course, moved up to middle class as his mother re-married and earned more money in her job - but Clark was the child of a single parent for at least seven years.
Kucinich, as we all know, had both parents, but was in a huge family and money was so sparse, they lived in their cars at times.
I can relate to Clark and Kucinich more than Edwards.
I had a hard time of it growing up, too, and, now, as a single parent of a small boy, I know how demanding it is.

14. Thank you for saying that.
As a Clark supporter, I ended up proudly voting for Kucinich in the Colorado caucus, and was a DK delegate all the way to the state convention.

I've gotten to know many Kucinich supporters here, and they are some of the nicest people that I've ever met.

I have been really open about being a Clarkie, and the responses have been overwealmingly positive, with many DK supporters saying that they really liked and respected Clark, and thought he would be good on the ticket.

I've seen a few posts on DU by people saying that Clark as VP would lose the votes of most DK supporters, but that is definitely not the impression that I've gotten from talking to people here.

Maybe they were just humoring me because they wanted my vote.;-)

Clark was also on radio earlier today. Ed Schultz show. Maybe not the biggest market out there, but widely heard thru the Midwest.

11. I can't find any

If you want to take a look the website is:
http://www.bigeddieradio.com

It wasn't very long--only a few minutes. And nothing really new. Typical questions: what happens after the hand-over, do we have enough troops, what about the prisoner abuse. Probably not worth losing sleep over having missed it for us4clark.

I'd have posted something here, but I only heard Clark was coming up just about a minute before he did. And I wasn't sure I'd heard right.

Schultz did put one interesting spin on the troop question, asking whether it was politically wise for Kerry to advocate sending more troops to Iraq. Clark said, with a certain incredulity in his voice ;), that he was sure Kerry was proposing what he thought was best for the mission and in resolving the problem, whether it was politically expedient or not. Very nicely handled.

Also on the prisoner abuse, Clark really took Congress to task, and the Repub majority in particular, for not investigating faster. Said they were "derelict in their duty" and ignoring the principle of the separation of powers. He also was pretty harsh on the way the White House has been hiding, running, and sneaking (can't remember the exact words, but something close) to cover up their role in promoting the use of torture. And of course, as he has said before, the responsibility for creating the command climate that allowed the abuse to happen rests at the very top.

10. The real "man" is everywhere this week...
...what a wonderful, wonderful thing: Clark out stumping non-stop for Kerry. Hey, do you recall any other VP contender with this kind of network schedule? Uh, think...now think. Gee, no, there hasn't been anyone else, but they sure do talk about that other person him like he has been out there, when in actuality, he has not...hmmmm

16. I get my Clark fix.....
And the Kerry campaign should read this article........so Kerry doesn't get to "comfy" with thinking he's got the whole National Security thingie all sewn up....

The Last Hurdle
John Kerry's biggest problem -- still -- is the national security gap. Here's how he can close it.
By Kenneth S. Baer
Web Exclusive: 06.23.04

Print Friendly | Email Article

In Washington, the only question on anyone's mind is: WWJD -- What Will John Do? Everyone has a theory about whom John Kerry will pick (or should pick) as his running mate, and journalists are scrambling for any angle on the story that they can find.

Last Friday, The Washington Post ran one of the most interesting accounts of where Kerry's thinking may or may not be. While the article was filled with rampant speculation by a panoply of unnamed sources, one observation stuck out. According to the Post: "Friends say Kerry believes he has passed a national security threshold with voters that has freed him to tap a vice presidential candidate who complements him in other ways."

If these "friends" of Kerry were really his friends, they would inform him that, sadly, this is not the case. In fact, the only thing keeping George W. Bush in this race is that John Kerry has not yet met this "national security threshold" with the electorate. Voters still give the President a commanding lead on the questions of who can best protect the nation from terrorists and who is a stronger, more patriotic leader. Fortunately for Kerry, these sentiments say more about the Democratic party -- and voters' lingering doubts about Democrats and defense -- than they do about the candidate. Kerry has enough time to close this national security gap -- and must close it if he hopes to beat Bush this fall.

waaayyyy more in this article. Hope that John Kerry will read this....
