Spontaneous and General Audience Applause F9/11 when Michael Moore
gave military recruiting information to Congressional parents for their children and asked them to recruit their children to go to Iraq and help out. . . . . Spontaneous, general, sustained applause from the audience I was sitting with.

1. I heard a lot of 'hear, hear' and look at the chickenshits run away from
him. There was an undercurrent of general grumbling. I must have been with a rougher crowd.

6. We all laughed derisively at them
scurrying away like roaches.
Particularly since one of the congressmen was a representative from Tennessee.

2. same
Well the one congressman did say he couldnt argue with what Micheal was saying. So the Right can't say they didnt show something positive about their side of it.

7. Best comment heard while standing in line
with about 300 people waiting for them to open the theater doors:

Does anyone remember what the No. 1 movie was before this weekend?

8. The 2nd Rep he approached is local Rep
Rep. Mark Kennedy (R-Useless-MN) (the guy who looked like Screech from "Saved by the Bell") got a lot of hoots and catcalls from the audience when he appeared on screen. Yeah, we love that knucklehead-- NOT!

To be fair, he does have a nephew in Iraq, and he has criticized Moore for this. However, that's still not the same as having a son or daughter there, no matter how close the relationship may be.

Fahrenheit's $8 Million Night

Michael Moore's controversial "Fahrenheit 9/11" opened wide last night and took in a little over $8.2 million on 800 screens. It's now on track for a $24 million weekend, exceeding expectations according to predictions made by boxofficemojo.com

"F-9/11" was supposed to have been released by Miramax through Disney, which rejected the film. Ironically, if Disney had released it, the company would have had its first No. 1 hit in a year.

Instead, "F-9/11" did about seven times the business that Disney's release "Around the World in 80 Days" did on Friday night -- and in 2,000 fewer theaters.

So far, the curiosity about "F-9/11" appears to be widepread. After opening in New York to sell-out audiences, the documentary sold out shows in places as diverse as St. Louis and Chicago.

11. DC Sold Out All Weekend
that may be mostly guys afraid they are mentioned. ;-)

At my theatre in rural Maryland, in a Republican district, the matinee was about 75% full and the line for the next show was even longer.

13. My area is very near a Marine Corp base.
The theaters adjacent Camp Pendleton are not showing 911... Many within 25 miles of Camp Pendleton are.. Saw no one I suspected of being Marines...
Biggest applause line of our group...When the dead Marines' letter was being read by his mom...In particular, when the Marine said how he hates being in Iraq and called upon Americans to not return the fool....Another big laugh scene..When Bush rolled his eyes before his TV speech announcing the war.
