It just seems consistent with his opportunist m.o. It's quite clear the Egostistical one relishes another run as Gov. if not higher office. He must sense the ABB momentum espec. in his home state. Clips of him stumping for * wll bury him.

1. That would be nice. Makes sense since CA is unlikely
to go for Bush.

2. And not just the Gropinator.
A concerted effort should be made to firmly staple as many R candidates as possible to aWol's coattails. Now! In a few weeks, I expect many to start stepping back from the scandal plagued Bush administration. Get them on record now, so they can swirl down the toilet with their master.

It's only fair.

3. Since he's a Repub, he MUST stump for *. Esp. if he wants $$$
from the RNC or for his state from the White House. It's a given. All Repubs stump for Repub Presidents. And same for Democrats, I suppose (except Zel Miller, who isn't really a Democrat).

4. maybe I'm naive, but I don't think he needs the $. And
It appears to me that Bush needs him more than vice versa. That gives him the luxury of deciding whether the stump based on how he feels about * and whether he thinks doing so will hurt himself with Californians. So if AS does stump for Bush, what that will tell me is that he really does support him.

Meanwhile he had better spend most of his energy figuring out how to get Calif. out of their fiscal mess without destroying animals that (a) people have dumped or (b) whose parents people failed to neuter, before the hundreds of hard-working volunteers have a chance to find a kinder home for them.

5. How does Bush need Ahnie?
The only way Bush is competitive in CA is if a quake dumps everything ao=bove Fresno into the ocean. Bush has no need at all for Ahnie. Ahnie has no need at all for Bush.

I think Conan is going to run well to the left of, and away from, Dubya.

6. Well, if he doesn't need AS, then why would he ask him to stump?

can't the party just ask him to change his affiliation already? i am so sick of this guy. i don't understand why he's still calling himself a dem, and actively seeking to re-select bush(*).

12. Arnold doesn't need national $$$

Ahnold has the "star power" to pull in his own money.

You have to remember that the Republican party of California is probably equivalent to the Democrats in Indiana!!!! Ahnold is a far cry from the national fundie dominated Republicans.

Besides that, Ahnold is an egomaniac and he likes to attach himself to "winners". And right now, it looks A LOT like Bush is going DOWN!!!! Ahnold has at least enough sense to realize this. And if not, his Kennedy wife will shout it in his ear!!!!!

7. I thought it was pretty much confirmed
that Arnold wouldn't be stumping for the President?

I think the RNC is happy enough to have the governorship, and recognizes that if the governor stumped for the president, Californians wouldn't vote for either of them.

Cali needed to elect him, because only he could guarantee financial assistance from the Bush Whitehouse?

13. Arnold is honorary California campaign chairman for *...
And he, like Sen. John McCain, will probably be a good GOP foot-soldier in the final analysis.
