Thousands expected at NCSU rally

Thousands of people from across the state are expected to gather Saturday afternoon as John Kerry and John Edwards bring the spectacle and fanfare of a national political rally to Raleigh.

The event is billed as a "welcome home" for Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth. The headliners are scheduled to appear at 4:30 p.m. on the campus of N.C. State University, Edwards' alma mater.

Organizers estimate 5,000 to 10,000 Democrats and others will attend the event in the Court of North Carolina, a quadrangle near the Bell Tower just off Hillsborough Street. They suggest getting passes early.

"It's the first event of its kind in North Carolina," said Schorr Johnson, spokesman for the N.C. Democratic Party.

Kerry and Edwards are to fly into Raleigh-Durham International Airport at 3 p.m. They will be greeted there by area war veterans. Before their arrival, other speakers and a musical guest are expected to keep the crowd entertained.

Gates to the rally at NCSU open at 1 p.m., and those with tickets are asked to come early because of security delays.

some who might not consider listening to kerry at all because he comes from a different place and they consider him not one of them will probably at least listen to edwards and they will probably like what he has to say.

* was so rattled at the press conference in Raleigh that he snarled at a reporter, nearly threw a temper tantrum and ran off the stage. I have never seem him so unglued. This was his first visit to NC since 2000 and he is now spending a fortune on attack ads. Kerry/Edwards can win this state, we just need to keep fighting until the end, this administration is desperate.

7. No, it was yet another display of arrogance

when questioned about Edward's popularity and charisma compared to VP. * responded by snarling at reporter that VP could be president. He then looked at another reporter and said "you look hot", then immediately left. The boy is having a hard time keeping it together these days. Of course, the next day the terra scare was all over the news. Coincidence? No way!
