The chair and vice chair positions in Guam were vacant.
In the election to fill them, the chair is going to 'go with the party' and the vice chair has endorsed Obama already!
http://www.mvariety.com/?story_id=10817&module=displaystoryFormer Senator Pilar Lujan and former Inarajan Mayor Jaime Paulino have also been working hard, canvassing and calling friends and relatives for their support in the May 3 election.
Lujan remains uncommitted because she believes that her vote should reflect the will of the majority of Democrats. However, her running mate, Paulino, has publicly endorsed Obama, according to Tenorio.
"Both Hillary and Obama represent the party ideals. As a candidate for the Democratic party chair, I will like my vote to represent the Democratic Party of Guam," Lujan said.
Lujan said that she, along with her family have been Democratic members for many years and that politics is still alive with Guam's vote having a big stake for the Democratic presidential candidates.
They were one of 3 teams, and HRC endorsed another pair.
In the race for chairman/vice chairman, the team of Pilar Lujan/Jaime Paulino won the positions with 416 votes. Joseph Artero Cameron and Arlene P. Bordallo tallied 317 votes, while the team of Antonio Charfauros and Mary Ann Cabrera finished with 142 total votes.
Both Lujan and Paulino are SDs.
Of the 5, the 3rd is uncommitted, the 4th endorsed Hillary but there is a 5th and that seat is VACANT.
Good news!!!
The 5th (vacant) will be appointed, not elected. Both men up for that seat have already endorsed Obama --
so the outcome is really 2 Superdelegates today, we just don't know which name to put behind the second one yet.the committee man position, which will be filled by appointment. Both candidates up for consideration, Sen. Benjamin Cruz and attorney Mike Phillips, are Obama supporters.
http://www.guampdn.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080504/NEWS01/805040306That makes 1 SD for Hillary, 2 for Obama and 2 Undecided (noting that the running mate of the 1 Obama supporter is likely going to go with Obama as that was the outcome she pledged).
Who says Guam didn't count for anything?
