I've been thinkin'.....
:party:A Party Convention is an important public event so you need to use it as an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the party, celebrate American artistic achievement and offer some relaxation, because hey, campaigns are stressful. It's also an oppurtunity to demonstrate to those watching the convention on TV that Democrats' appreciate both pop culture and American heritage.
Unfortunately I'm not going to this years convention, but if I were, and even better if I got to choose the entertainment, I'd pick these artists, because they move me, make me think and remind me that there are talented Americans to be proud of.
:nopity:Music:nopity: 1) Josh Groban because his voice is so powerful. It would be great singing the National Anthem. 2) Kanye West-rising rapper with significant social commentary 3) Lauryn Hill- because she needs to come back 4) Dixie Chicks-beautiful bluegrass and real patriots on one ticket
:hippie:Movies:hippie: 1) In America- it's so sweet, it's the heart because it involves an immigration story and a family facing rough times 2) Pieces of April- All-American darling Katie Holmes makes honorable effort to cook Thanksgiving for unappreciative parents. Best Thanksgiving film ever 3)Saving Private Ryan or We Were Soldiers- I don't know, thought maybe a war movie would be appropriate, but I don't know many so I guessed with these
:silly:Comedy:silly: 1) Jon Stewart and the Daily Show reporters- because their brilliant 2) Chris Rock- his harsh comedic honesty would be a reminder of how we Democrats truly appreciate honesty
Any way, those are just some of my ideas.
I'm interested in knowing what/who you'd recommend to the Convention planners from a strategic standpoint and who you'd want to see if you were going yourself.
