What the hell happened to our political system?
What are "conventions" for if not to finally select a candidate, a VP, and a platform? Why all the pundit spin about not going to the "convention?"

The rules on SDs are that they can vote any damn way they want to and there is no such thing as having to vote for the person with the most "pledged" (no such thing either) delegates. We all know how most of the media feels about this primary and how most of the DUers here feel but I say let Hillary take her campaign all the way to the convention. If Obama is all that everyone makes him out to be he should be able to stand toe to toe and present his best case there.

2. Awww, you poor, poor Hillarite!
To ease the pain of your Queen's huge loss in NC, here's a picture of a dog in a tuxedo:

4. I thought we had to "count every vote"
If the state votes don't matter, then why are we bothering spending millions of dollars on these worthless elections. Just let the supers choose at the convention and be done with it.

Why is any American willfully dismissing the vote of the people. It's stunning.

6. It has been pointed out many times that the primary
is not about the popular vote.

7. It's about the people voting for delegates
I know. Why don't Hillary's supporters care about the will of the people. Again, it's stunning what people will let themselves believe.

5. It is not just spin in this case....
Historically when only one party decides at convention time, they lose. Ford in 76, Carter in 80, come to mind. It gives the other party a leg up while the the still in doubt party tears itself apart. Just the way it is.

9. in 1980
Carter already had the nomination sewn up by the convention, but Ted Kennedy didn't give him his full support at any time, only a mild show of support.

In 1932 there was no candidate for the dems until several ballots in, and we all know who won that election.

8. We grew up?
Conventions are the product of the 19th century when (and only in the 2nd half of it) the pinnacle of communications technology was the telegraph.

What we have today with primarys across the country and the popular vote actually being possible, the wheeling and dealing of the convention is generally completely unnecessary. They are meant, these days, to confirm the already known nominee. The last time there was an actual convention battle it left the Democrats so weakened and divided just weeks before the GE that we got fucking Ronald Reagan as president.

This will be settled long before the convention. End of June at the very latest.

10. Funny how nobody complained about not taking it to the convention in 2004.
The DLC bastards made sure they cut off the best candidate in Iowa, and called the race in February.

Where was all this "take it to the convention" shit then?

13. Silly jasmine. We're not supposed to vote.
We're supposed to "feel" our way to our candidate.

14. Did you read the rules, or are you just posting your opinion?
I have no idea what the HECK you want here.

You want the people to decide, or you want Hillary to win at no cost?
