Tom DeLay blames Howard Dean for defection of TX Representative.
DeLay accords Dean a lot of power. Funny.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/01/03/national0313EST0432.DTL

SNIP.."House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said Democrats are "reaping what they've sown."

"Their leaders have lined up behind Howard Dean's brand of angry, intolerant politics. They've made their message clear: 'moderates need not apply' and that's a sad trend for a once-great party," DeLay said...."

I am sorry he is defecting, but blaming Dean for it is just too much.
Delay is trying to dictate to our party now. This is ridiculous. I understand this rep was very right wing in his views anyway. You go, DeLay, we treasure your advice.

B-)

1. DeLay attacked Dean? That's a badge of honor!
DeLay has never attacked Lieberman...

3. Delay regularly attacks Dean. The campaign's troll money
funds made a lot of money with each attack.

39. General Rule, if Tom DeLay doesn't like the guy...
He'd probably make a great president.

10. Even my Republican son in TX despises DeLay.
He says very few people can even tolerate him. Guess he has had so much power that he could run roughshod over folks.
Bout time he lost some of that power.

5. Love this part
"Ralph is a close friend of the Bush family. He is a well-respected leader of the highest integrity, and a tireless advocate for the people of Texas," Bush said.

But he wasn't yesterday, when he was a Democrat. What a moron!

Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 01:28 AM by HawkeyeX
I think the Dems are fired up on the demagougery of DeLay and his redistricting bullshit. Not only DeLay will lose his seat in November, * will lose his home state.

Ralph Hall will also lose his seat in 2004 to a Dem.

I predict this.

You may mark my words.

7. My daughter says there is huge support for Dean near DFW area.
I was just thinking about this statement of DeLay's. By saying that, he gave Dean legitimacy as a party leader.

I am sure he did not mean to do that, though.
;-)

Because I don't find homophobia funny, and there are plenty of gay and gay-supportive people in the DFW area.

Of course Zell Miller is the greatest dem since Harry Truman. "Zell Miller votes with his convictions not with his party". Bullshit, Zell Miller votes against his party so he can get attention and make money selling his book.

9. Hahahahaha! Love the double standards.
Remember when Jim Jeffords quit the GOP and went independent? The outrage? The shock? The anger? The promises of retribution?

But I guess switching to the other party (not merely quitting it) is A-OK?

Man, are these Republicans hypocrites or what? I'm beginning to think they patented the concept of hypocrisy! :)

21. DeLay is covering up some pretty gross earmarking
by flailng at Dean. Another quote from the article:

He (Hall) told The Associated Press that he's always said that if being a Democrat hurt his district, he would switch or resign. He said GOP leaders had recently refused to place money for his district in a spending bill and "the only reason I was given was I was a Democrat."
He also said he did not agree with "all these guys running against the president."
Tom DeLay's logic: "all these guys" = Howard Dean. :dunce: for DeLay

These are the fascists we're running against, folks. Never forget, the "enemy" is NOT other Democratic candidates, but people like DeLay/Hastert/Frist who refuse to let AT LEAST 50% of the people of this country even be represented in the government of this country.

Tom DeLay is the Republican party in a single human being. People cannot stand him because he is such a sack of shit. If people realized that basically every Republican is just like Tom DeLay, we would have the white house and both houses of congress.

45. I like Ralph Hall more as a Repuke than as a DINO!
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 05:13 AM by flaminbats
"I've always said that if being a Democrat hurt my district I would switch or I would resign," explained Hall to the AP. He claimed that GOP leaders recently refused to fund projects in his district and -- when he asked a colleague why -- "the only reason I was given was I was a Democrat." Even before the switch, Hall had built one of the most conservative voting records in Congress. "I don't think this is going to upset the Democratic Party. I haven't been voting with them in 10 or 15 or 20 years," joked the Congressman.

Zell Miller became a Repuke because he felt that party was more bipartisan, but Hall switched because the Repukes wouldn't reward him for his loyal support as a DINO.
