And that is what is also completely banal about all of the projections about who is better in the fall.

There is a reason they have campaigns. All of the polls that show McCain having a chance in the fall are nice fiction. Could he win? Of course he could win. He could also lose every state in the union.

We have a country that hates Bush and the Republicans were boxed in so they nominated Grandpa Minnie Me and now we are going to turn this into an referendum on Bush III. And if anyone has any doubts I have a single word answer

Obama has been through 21 and McCain had a few softball pitches.

The other day a reporter asked a fairly straight forward question

Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush’s policy, which is just abstinence?”

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president’s policy.”

Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”

Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”

Q: “I mean, I think you’d probably agree it probably does help stop it?”

Mr. McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception – I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”

Q: “But you would agree that condoms do stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Would you say: ‘No, we’re not going to distribute them,’ knowing that?”

Mr. McCain: (Twelve-second pause) “Get me Coburn’s thing, ask Weaver to get me Coburn’s paper that he just gave me in the last couple of days. I’ve never gotten into these issues before.”

Could John McCain be this much of an idiot? Could he be so stupid about basic health policy? Could he be so beholden to the theocrats that he wouldn't answer such an obvious question?



This man's world experience is surprisingly very narrow. It is difficult to imagine him sharing a stage with Obama and taking questions at random and looking like he is in the same league.


Campaigns are never straight lines

coherent theme to rebuild on, which Goldwater did. Goldwater had an integrated philosophy that allowed the base to eventually become the party of Reagan. A McCain wipe out will lead to chaos in the party and a long struggle for the identity of the party.

Obama, if somehow he can win the White House, will be a one-term President. For one thing, there will be the biggest Presidential let-down ever when suddenly we have President Obama (who ran on the same moderate-moderate-liberal platform as Hillary) and this country and the world don't suddenly transform into bright new shining heavens of hope and change. Think the kids would be heart-broken if Hillary steals it in Denver? They'll be even more heart-broken if their idol wins the White House.

Also, he will be Carterized by the MSM and the right wing, working mostly independently of each other. So who gets to be Reagan in 2012, hmmm? Not a pretty prospect.

16. The questions asked of him by the tools in the MSM will not be "at random."

They will be designed to present him in the most favorable light, and Obama in the worst possible light. Don't forget, the MSM has admitted that they are McCain's real cosntituency. They are covering for him now and will continue not covering him but covering for him as much as possible.
