Please explain this double-standard by Kerry and Leiberman

I realize this is simplistic and there are many nuances in
tax policy. But the basic point they are making is troubling, in terms of being honest and consistent.

On CBS and ABC was both Kerry and Leiberman attacking Dean and Gephardt for wanting to "raise taes on the middle class." Leiberman said Dean wants to take the Democrats back to being the big-spending, high-tax Democratic Party of old.

One problem with this. Both Leiberman and Kerry are cloaking themselves in the mantle of Clintonomics, saying what a great economic success and fiscally responsible president Clinton was.

Wellllll, if in fact Dean and Gephardt rescind Bush's tax cuts, aren't they simply rolling it back to what it was under Clinton?

How can they be branded as old-fashioned high taxing liberals, if the end result is that taxes are the same as they were under Clinton?

who don't understand that the middle class are paying more for every aspect of their lives now. The trade off, more taxes for lesser cost of living, is in everyone's best interest.

4. Clinton agrees with Kerry, Lieberman and others

Clinton tried to get middle class tax cuts , the ones Kerry, Lieberman, Clark, and Edwards want to keep. the wealthy are the ones who need to pay more and held accountable when they don't such as locating offshore.

of the government for a long, long time. They apparently think they can fool American voters by saying such things. Either that, or they don't realize what they're saying. I'm assuming it's the former.

7. Clinton always intended for the the middle class to get the taxbreaks.

When a the GOP took over congress, they only pushed across the board taxcuts which runs counter to progressive taxation which is a Democratic PRINCIPLE. Cutting or raising taxes across the board is a GOP principle that results in the middle class STILL carrying the greater burden.

11. yes, the wealthy aren't paying their "fair share"

i don't the right wing hates those words "fair share" but it's true. while clinton did all he could do, he wasn't able to do all he wanted with the right wing congress. the right wing loves to lie and say clinton never got the middle class tax cuts he promised but it was as you say, the right wing congress only passed across the board ones which would still benefit the wealthy and overburden the middle class.

12. the problem with that is,

far too many people think they are 'middle' class when they are WAY above, the tax breaks should be for LOWER middle class that are just barely there.
frankly there should be adjustments for where you live.
