We Must Elect Barack Obama. Our National Security and the Future of this Country Depends On It!
Edited on Sat May-17-08 11:47 PM by redstate_democrat
Barack Obama is the best shot we have at pulling this country back from the fast circling of the drain we're in right now.

We are on the verge of a total economic and energy collapse that has national security implications. The Bush Administration has suspended all Constitutional restraints on the executive branch and has consistently overreached because it is under the impression that we are in the fight of our lives...not from terror, but in the fight for a scarce resource...OIL. There solution to this national security threat is to wage wars to gain control of the resource.

It is not. Obama is the only sane politician left in this race. He understands that we can't WASTE TIME fighting these wars for oil because sooner or later, there won't be anything to fight over and we would have lost precious lives, trillions of dollars that could have been invested in alternative fuels, and precious TIME. They see Obama, the guy who wants to totally pull OUT of the ME and quit waging these oil wars, as a threat to national security. If we pull out, we don't have control over a scarce resource anymore. That leaves open the opportunity for Iran and China and other nations to move in and take control. But they are mistaken. As we fight for scraps, time keeps on ticking and we fall further behind.

WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE!

These neocons keep bashing their skulls against the wall believing that if they can only get in control of the resource, then America will be fine. NOT SO! We live in a global economy and the world's economy runs on oil. We are increasing our demand and use of oil faster than they can pump it. Sooner or later, we will be tapped out. They are not spending ANY time trying to figure out a way to become independent of it all together. WHY? A major shift away from oil without any transition in the oil driven marketplace scares the hell out them as well because those who are currently wealthy won't be anymore.

They have known about peak oil since the 70s and know that we are at a critical stage right now in the world. China is becoming a huge threat to our way of life as they compete for the world's energy and America just seems to be blindly going along like business as usual, buying their cheap product, enriching them so they can ultimately drive us into the stone age.

McCain = war for scarce oil

Obama = independence from oil and a total realignment of how wealth is obtained and accumulated.

These stupid wars for oil (Iraq and maybe Iran) will not save us and the sooner these freaks in Washington realize this, the sooner we can begin seriously trying to save this country.

They need this boogyman "bin Laden" to energize and scare us into these wars for oil because they literally see the scarcity of oil as a national security threat. Bin Laden does not have enough power for us to be engaged in these massive wars. It is the oil. The CIA knows this and they are perpetrating the misinformation out there about the so-called "war on terror". McCain, the once "maverick" who was once against these wars, has now come to believe that the fight for oil is a national security interest as well.

We must get a Democrat in office this time. We cannot afford not to. The future of this country depends on it. Not only will we drive ourselves into an economic collapse chasing after the oil in the middle east with these 6 trillion dollar wars, but we waste critical time in doing so. Obama understands this.

If McCain gets into office, he will just blindly follow the Bush/Cheny playbook of waging oil wars and we will still be several years behind in the real fight, trillions of dollars wasted, thousands of lives lost, and on the brink of the post-industrial stone age.

WE MUST VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA. Put aside all of the stupid shit and ego and vote for whomever has the D after their name. It is as simple as that!

3. Ever since obama fell for the trap bush laid to show the weakness
of obama in foreign relations and national security, it seems there was a circle the wagon attitude by high ranking democrats to try and pull in the slack so that obama would be covered by his lack of experience.

HRC did the smart thing and covered all bases and you would think by the whoremedia she was sticking up for obama.....NO! She was speaking up for Democrats.

9. Wow.. Didn't they cover sets and subsets in your elementary school math program?
HRC did the smart thing and covered all bases and you would think by the whoremedia she was sticking up for obama.....NO! She was speaking up for Democrats.

1> Per you she was covering for the set for Democrats
2> Obama is in the set of Democrats
3> Therefore Hillary was covering for Obama.

Therefore your assertion is illogical as well as ill-informed.

Funny, though, that you would take a true unifying and laudable action of Clinton and try to debase it. If you support Hillary, why would you lessen her?

10. Really? Please explain.
Because from anyone watching it appears Bush stumble-fucked his was into politicizing a speech on foreign land and looked like a steaming pile of shit for doing it and being wrong about it.

Are your Hillary blinders making you compliment Bush now?

8. Barack’s ignorance of critical foreign policy issues will be exploited
Edited on Sun May-18-08 01:17 AM by BenDavid
One Obamaism was claiming that “Arabic” translators are needed in Afghanistan is inexcusable for someone who wants to be Commander-in-Chief in the war on terror. The languages of Afghanistan are Pashto and Dari Persian.”
A serious gaffe but I must admit that I am no longer surprised by our all too compliant press corps/media when it comes to calling out their darling - the Chosen One during the Dem primary. Republicans will not be so sparing.
The lack of curiousity by Sen. Obama in affairs domestic and foreign that are pressing and urgent is all too reminiscent of one who has led our country down a disastrous path. You would be far better served Sen. Obama, by at least reading and studying foreign and domestic affairs, as opposed to regurgitating Malcolm X speeches. Sen. Obama has stated that he has has been too busy campaigning to convene a meeting since he was appointed chair. Wes Clark testified in the Hague against Milosevic in Dec. of 2003, in the midst of a presidential bid. Somehow, Gen. Clark managed to make the time. It wasn’t a politically beneficial move for Clark - GWB imposed a press blackout on it and it was a closed court room. Hell, if you would have at least read The Kite Runner you would have known Arabic is not the language of Afghanistan. We truly deserve better from someone who wishes to lead this country. Which is why this voter supports supports Hillary Clinton.

11. Do you really not know the facts?
Where do you thing the foreign Al Qeada fighters came from? What do you think they might speak? Are you so ignorant of Al Qeada that you think the are all Afghani?

Your lack of curiosity sort of puts you at a deficit in complaining.

Beside interpretors, many resources have been taken from Afghanistan to be used in Iraq:

12. I totally agree!! Sen. Obama has chosen realism and pragmatism over ideology in foreign policy
Edited on Sun May-18-08 01:39 AM by Douglas Carpenter
It's not that I agree with every aspect of Sen. Obama's positions on foreign policy - In fact I very much disagree with certain positions. But those are positions that I suspect he has taken due to the realities of American domestic body politic.

But Sen. Obama and his leading advisers realize the extreme importance of realism, dialog and constructive engagement over dangerous demagogic saber rattling that may very well appeal to the lower side of human nature, but destabilize the world and harm America's own interest.

Almost everywhere in the world people are talking about Sen. Obama and are looking forward to a new policy of cooperation and engagement.

As someone who lives in the Middle East and has spent close to half their life in Middle East - I look forward to a whole new understanding under the leadership of President Obama.
