So, operation chaos a resounding success... :(
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 09:17 AM by Yotun
Like it or not, Rush has done it. There are at least two primaries I can think of that finished so tight, that Rush Limbaugh Republicans probably tipped them over to Hillary. Texas and Indiana. In both cases, had she lost, she'd have probably been declared completely dead, and maybe resigned. Texas came after Obama's long streak of victories. If she lost that, and merely won Ohio in single digits that day, it would have all been over. Similarly, had she lost both North Carolina and Indiana, Obama would have 'closed the deal', and it would again have been completely obviously over.

Instead the party HAS now been divided. This was an election supposedly about the Republicans being in disarray. In a few months, the democratic party has become more split than the Republican party is after 8 years of Bush. Operation chaos HAS succeeded... :(

6. The millions of Limbaugh listeners are way too respectful of democrats
and democracy to actually act on his suggestion.

4. Not the primary process, allowing them to spin it into a victory.
Come on, we know politics works by impressions, not reality.

14. Actually, it works by numbers, not impressions...
...and Obama's campaign is proof of that.

23. And what reality is there in the process?
Win or lose in November, the process needs to be changed before 2012.

5. Yes, it was a success, but only because Hillary chose to run with it.
She actively played to the rightwingers and racists with her bottom of the barrel shilling.

Rush helped her stay in and gave her the primary wins in Texas and Indiana.

9. No it hasn't. The MSM would like you to think it has though.
Pay attention to Obama. He is so NOT phased by any of this because he assumed that it would be this way. He is calm, cool and collected, and right where he knew he'd be at this moment it time.

16. Are you telling me Indiana doesn't have at least 14K devoted Limbaugh listeners? And Texas? One of
the reddest states in the union could not have pushed that tiny margin into Hilary's side? Especially given that the Republican races were over and nobody had a reason to go vote in them any more? Come on. Their numbers were enough to make a significant difference. Hillary would not be in the race had she lost Texas convincingly at that time- remember Obamas string of victories before that. He had all the momentum, and Hillary would have completely diflated.

28. No, I'm saying that to be a resounding success, it would have to actually have succeeded.
Which means it would have to have been an unexpected broadside that tipped the nomination.

It didn't.

12. Depends what success is I guess
Ultimately Limbaugh wants us to lose the election, if we're divided now but don't STAY that way, it could very well mess up his plans. The key will be forgiveness and not believing we've already lost.

21. Yes, this party is divided...
This is a battle between the neocon cancer that has infiltrated our party (DLC) and
the Progressive wing of the party.

This has been an ongoing battle. Rush didn't create this battle. It's been stewing and
brewing for years. The clincher is...the Progressives are winning this time and gaining
power. It's the DLC-Democrat-neocons who are waging the war with us, not Rush.

I will say this. Rush's aiding-and-abetting of Hillary should speak volumes to every
Democrat out there. Fox News was pushing her and bashing Obama. I mean, Jesus--Bill
Kristol--the PNAC Godfather--was leveraging Hillary and attacking Obama at every turn.

Does anyone actually believe that Rush was acting of his own accord? He gets his talking
points from the neocon power establishment. "Operation Chaos" was not about dividing our
party, because Rush thought it would be cute and funny. This was about helping the neocons
(whether they're Dems or Reps) hold onto power--so they could continue their sick Middle-East
war policy.

Yes, it worked somewhat. It made a difference in Ohio and Texas. That makes me sick.

However, in the end--it didn't work. Obama is winning, and he has all-but won the Democratic
primary.

Stuff like this should serve to wake us the hell up about who Hillary is and what has
happened in our government. It's 80 percent of the Republican party (neocons) AND
30 percent of the Democratic party (neocons) VERSUS PROGRESSIVES, LIBERTARIANS AND
REPUBLICANS WITH A SENSE OF DECENCY.

This is a war worth fighting, and it looks like we are on our way to winning it.

26. The progressive wing of the party thought war criminal Condoleezza Rice
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 10:08 AM by Benhurst
was a fit nominee for Secretary of State? The progressive wing of the Democratic Party voted for the renewal of the so-called "Patriot" Act? The progressive wing of the party voted for the continued funding of our illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq?

Yeah, the "progressive" wing of the party is winning all right. In truth, what little there is of it had lost out long before Super Tuesday.

24. Pfft. Rush wishes he had that much power. It's nothing more than a ratings gimmick, BUT...
Republicans voting in the Democratic primaries has had some effect, but it wasn't because Rush told them to. It was because their primary was already decided, and ours is a mess. People want their vote to matter.

25. Texas and Indiana? Not a chance.
Both states were leaning hard to Clinton and swung hard to Obama in the end. He won Texas and lost Indiana by a fraction of a percentage. Hillary was holding firm in Indiana until her pandering and silly posturing repulsed the voters.

Limbaugh was a non-issue.
