We are beginning to be like Freepers here.
There are enough facts at issue in this election that we can probably afford to drop subjects like Laura's dead boyfriend and how she killed him. She's not running and neither is THK. I think it is having it both ways to wail about how Teresa is being treated and yet post alot of pretty nasty comments about what was most certainly a tragic event in Laura Bush's life. I don't like Laura Bush but she is a side show. We should all stick to the main tent and avoid the sideshows. Just my opinion. :-)

Sorry but she supports the shrub
and campaigns for him so everything she does (and everyone she has killed) is relevant. We're not letting up on her.

I'm uncomfortable holding a tragic event from someone's teen years up as a measure of their character. Teens make mistakes and I wouldn't want people to judge my teens by their mistakes for the rest of their lives.

This was not a choice, but an accident. Leave it alone.

as much pleasure (guilty, at times) as I take in going after the most superficial traits of that monstrously deformed family tree, I've never had much stomach for going after her brush with autocide.

that just goes too far, and only gives ammo to the freepcreeps, not to mention undecideds who come here

that said

14. Attire, Hell...She Needs MAKEUP Tips!!
Earth tones, Missus Bush...earth tones!!

Jeez, every time I see you I wonder what number file or spatula or chisel you use to take off your makeup at night!!

Lord sakes...there ARE lipstick colors out there other than bright RED...and they would probably look a lot better on you, too!! Subtle is good....

Try some foundation that is NOT Clown White...and some lipstick in maybe a pale pink, or maybe even a bit lighter...hell, even the foundation fix would be a big help....you just got TOO MUCH CoNtRaSt going on there, makes ya look like a friggin' drag queen, hun!!

I mean, sheesh, I thought Janet Reno made makeup look bad, but that was before I saw YOU...Laura!! Get some professional makeup help, hun...seriously...I mean, you could use it...just go to one of those malls and have a professional give you one of those 1 hour makeovers, where they give you your best colors and stuff, because what you're using now ain't workin....

11. The only thing that sticks in my craw about Laura (gosh I hate it
sometimes that we share a name) is that she showed no remorse when questioned the first time around. I agree that spouses and children should be generally left out of political barbing, but saying,"I'm over it and you should be too" is a little harsh.

Something more akin to,"Not a day goes by that I don't think about it...etc" would have made her look better in my book. Plus, in her "speaking" about stem cell research, she is opening a door.

:hi:

13. I Think It's Valid to point out that
she's painted herself as an "expert" on stem cell research because she, um, did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. On that, she's dove into the political arena, so she's invited the criticism and scrutiny. Personally, I've only obliquely referred to the fact that maybe she shouldn't be the shrub's designated driver. Other than that, I guarantee you that if the shoe was on the other foot, team freep would be waving 20 foot wide blood-red banners every time Kerry spoke, calling his wife a "murderer". We've got a long way to go before we reach the level of their muck.

20. She's a campaign figure out on the trail speaking to crowds
Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 06:51 PM by Snoggera
albeit, small crowds, regarding the need to continue denying scientists access to stem cell research. As a public figure currently actively campaigning for her husband, her public record should be known/publicized.

She did kill her ex-boyfriend under what has to be questionable circumstances.

Why should that be off limits?

It's not the same as discussing "how Teresa is being treated."

Freepers attack on superficial grounds.

These (Pickles posts) are posts that convey information that may lead one to make assumptions/conclusions about the individual's character. Or lack of it.

edit: when did they invent the ' key?

23. I see no nexus whatsoever between
Laura Bush's position on stem cell research and her accidentally killing her boyfriend...none whatsoever. If we are going to criticize her on the stem cell issue, we ought to point out the fact that she's a librarian, not a scientist. It make no sense (and no good argument) to bring up an accident she had when she was in in High School.

28. I see a correlation
A person incapable of either containing her rage, or having an "accident" that kills someone points to her character and ability to think logically. Stem cell arguments require one to have some semblance of the ability to think logically. I do not see that in her arguments today any more than I see compassion in her responses regarding a high school "accident" or homicide.

It's an extension, and a long one at that, but there it is.

32. It's not an extension...
it's a big stretch! But you have a right to question her compassion, given what I've heard was her reaction to being asked about the accident, and you are right to think that a little compassion is required when talking about stem cell research. Still, I think we should lay off her and cencentrate on the guy she married.
