Record Today's Donations Here---->
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 05:06 PM by redstate_democrat
I've been busy today.

Today I donated to the top 3.

1. Barack Obama = $150.00
2. DNC = 150.00 and also signed up for a Democracy Bond at $50.00 a month (so total today for DNC was $200.00)
3. Moveon.Org = $50.00

Total contributions = $400.00

I strongly encourage everyone to donate as much as you can afford for this month as soon as possible. Let's send a signal to the DNC, OBAMA for America, and Moveon.org that we are 1000% behind them!

I bought TWO Obama yard signs, in case one disappears, despite being rubbed with poison ivy.

2. that's very nice of you, but
to be honest i would rather give $400 to the food banks. i'm not saying that i don't contribute to candidates and the DNC, but i think hungry people come first.

3. I contribute to a variety of organizations from Amnesty International, ACLU, to Organizations that
help with high utility bills. I support progressive magazines and papers. I've organized food drives. Etc. I have kicked up my support of political causes this election because of the crap we're in.

I'm excited because I am invited to an Obama fund-raiser Monday, but the cost is 2300 for the VIP reception with Obama. I don't know if I will go or not.

6. 2300 is a LOT for me as well. That's a bit much, but I received the invite anyway.
I would seriously have to tap savings just for the opportunity to meet Barack. I think it would be cheaper for me to stand on a rope line. :D

7. sweets -- I have this kind of internal debate a lot.
One the one hand, yes, hungry people seem a much more immediate and pressing problem. On the other hand, if we can change the political system, maybe we can address more issues like the roots of hunger and prevent some of these problems long-term.

12. I donated $270 to Obama and $50 to Ashwin Madia.
Apparently my donation from a couple weeks ago didn't go through somehow so I had to do it again for Madia.

13. Question about donations to DNC.
Does it count toward the Obama GE campaign? All the "contribute" buttons as http://www.democrats.org say something about helping get Obama elected. Which I want to do, obviously, but I want to keep track of how much I've donated just in CASE I can spare more than $2300 over the course of the campaign.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

16. No your 2300 limit to Barack doesn't count for the DNC.
There was an option for the DNC Democracy bond to donate up to 26,500 so I doubt there is a limit there.

17. Thanks.
I meant the other way around, though: Do DNC contributions count toward Obama campaign. But I reread what it said on the website and it's clearer now. Doh.

Anyway, I'm browsing the "party builder" features of the website now. :)

Thanks for your post.

14. My Company held a Darfour Awareness event today
So my Obama donation for the month went to the refugee camps. Finances are tight, I'm hoping I can cut some expenses to give at the end of the month though.
