Blatantly anti-Dem bias in the AP primary coverage!
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 10:40 PM by giantrobot_2000
Check out this opening paragraph by Calvin Woodward (AP):

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2004/01/04/politics1725EST0565.DTL&type=printable

"For a brief time in their debate Sunday, Democrats seemed to be hewing to a New Year's resolution to stick more carefully to the facts on taxes, the budget and more. But old habits die hard."

Sounds like the AP has another GOP hack in their midst!

E-mail Calvin at cwoodward@ap.org. Also e-mail their Ombudsman at info@ap.org. Give the AP a call 212-621-1600.

Let them know that this kind of garbage editorializing has NO PLACE in an AP wire story.

1. Also
Check out the Hacktacular Calvin Woodward's reporting of lies about Al Gore as "fact":

http://www.dailyhowler.com/h100600_1.shtml

Give these people a call and write them an e-mail! We can stop this kind of bias in AP's reporting.

3. Thanks for the links - you both rock!
Plus, I love the presence of the position that people CAN make a diff. Even if it's "only" in news coverage!!!

2. I was just abt to post the same thing! It's horrible
The bias is SO BLATANT. And in a supposedly neutral source like the Associated press?!!

Kos is pretty angry abt it too, check it out: www.dailykos.com

Here are some other offending passages:

But the independent Tax Policy Center has calculated much larger tax cuts for middle income earners -- $1,012, for example, for someone making $40,000 to $50,000. Even people making $20,000 to $30,000 saved $638 on average, the center found.

Indeed, viewers of the Iowa debate heard conflicting figures from the candidates on what most people gained from the Bush tax cuts -- Dean's $304, Gephardt's $600 and Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman's $1,800 for a family of four.

"As a result, you would be very confused," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

snip

But she faulted ::Lieberman:: for calling Bush the worst environmental president in history. "Clearly, hyperbole," she said, noting, for example, that America's water quality was so bad 100 years ago that it threatened lives.

4. of course 100 years ago...
people lost their teeth prior to middle age (30) and women regularly died in childbirth and of "natural causes" before they reached the ripe old age of 40. And I vow not to mention child-labor and jim crow laws..................

6. Thanks for the link.
I just sent my e-mail to the AP. Not that they will care, but that article is just crap. Particularly the part about Dems exaggeration on Bush's job record. I hate the media.
