Colorado: Obama 43---McCain 41: Getting too close.
Obama is down 5 points and McCain is down 1 from the last poll that showed Obama with a 6-point lead. Obama leads by 17 among Independents but gets only 77% of Democrats in the state. McCain gets 82% of Repubes and trails Obama by 12 among women.

1. This is Colorado...
That sucks at the teat of the Military Industrial Complex and has a bunch of military retirees. I'm surprised there is a poll that shows Obama ahead.

15. If our governor had any brains - he'd be pushing legislation
to shove FotF and "Ronald Reagan Highway" where it belongs - in the trash in the middle of nowhere in Idaho.

(Sorry Idahoans)

If not, they cannot be compared. And if so, well, fluctuations happen.

5. He's still ahead. Relax.
Obama will probably choose a VP either from the southwest or with a military background, both of which will help in Colorado.

Remember, Kerry was within 3-4 points of winning Colorado last time.

21. Kerry lost by five points
no Democrat has won a majority in CO in a Presidential election since 1964.

kinda like FUX Noise. It apparently is affecting the weak-minded.

12. Colorado will be a close state
it always is. It's a positive sign that right now it's leaning blue, having been red the last 3 elections.

14. Colorado will break out for Obama in a big way - we're working on it!
We're signing up new voters - everywhere from left to right.

I'd take Rasmussen Report with a grain of salt (as always)

I predict Obama 59% McOldFart 25% and Barr 4%

17. I agree. We worked our butts off for the caucuses and we will for
the GE, too. Focus on the Family will no longer have a hold on us, if I have anything to say about it. That's why my favorite bumper sticker is "Focus On Your Own Damn Family." :)

18. Those who live in Colorado know this wont be even close
Rasmussen is full of shit as usual.

I am seeing a pattern with their latest polls. Show a favorable number for McCain and provide a RW footnote for it.

There is no way a third party candidate will draw 7% of the vote here.

20. I live in Colorado
First: Ignore the polls until we get much closer. There is going to be a lot of churn.

Second: Don't forget this is historically a red state. That can change, but it isn't guaranteed. It all depends on what Obama's strategy is for winning the West.

This is the same state that has Marilyn Musgrave as a representative while having a Democratic governor. The state has a large ideological split, and plenty of swing voters. There are enough swing voters to tip it to Obama, but don't forget they are Westerners who a strongly progressive agenda isn't going to play to. Obama has to be convincing that he isn't anti-gun, convincing that his tax increases will be carefully moderated, convincing that he isn't an elitist and he understands the common man.

He has my vote locked up, but I'm just one person. The state can be won, but I'll say it again, it all depends on how he approaches the West.

22. I also live here
I will be very surprised if we win Colorado. McCain will get the military vote and the favorite son vote - being a westerner.

If Obama wins it will be very, very close. The republicans will get out the vote - they always do. They still outnumber Democrats by about 200k (Kerry lost by 100k)- it will be the independents that will swing the election, like you say. Salazar won in 2004 as a Democrat because enough independents saw him as one of them - another good old boy in a cowboy hat - to overcome the Republican advantage. Kerry got painted as an out of touch elitist liberal, and it stuck. Obama needs to avoid getting painted with the same brush.

:wtf:

The favorite son vote? I guess he was no favorite son around the primaries.

24. it was a caucus, not a primary
Republican turnout was less than 2% - caucuses often don't reflect the will of the party as a whole.

I don't think your point has any merit.
