Chet Edwards D - Central Texas. The same man who wrote me and told me he thought Bush's
intentions on Iraq were honorable. Again, that Bush won fair and square. Local Republicans keep him in office. Not the
smartest bulb in the chandelier. BUT - he miraculously stood up for Obama and for
a pullout in Iraq. I almost fainted when I heard it. http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/chet-edwards-wouldnt-turn-down-a-vp-invitation-2008-06-24.htmlChet Edwards wouldn’t turn down a VP invitation

Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Texas), the congressman that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested as a vice-presidential pick, says he has not talked to the Obama campaign, but he would not say no if he was asked.
“I cannot imagine too many Americans wouldn’t consider it an honor to serve our country as vice president,” Edwards said in a brief interview outside the House chamber.
But, he stressed, “I have not met with the Obama campaign about this.”
In a video uploaded Tuesday to Newsweek’s Brightcove page, Pelosi said “somebody from the House,” should be on the list of people considered for the Democratic nomination for vice president, and “Chet Edwards is a person many of us think would be a good person to have in the mix.”
Edwards is not well known nationally, but his position as chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee lends him credibility on defense and veterans issues. Edwards would add geographic balance to the ticket, but few pundits predict Texas will be in play come November. Edwards also voted to authorize the Iraq war.
Edwards added, “I’m humbled she would suggest I would be considered for vice president.”
