That media sure does love to manipulate language.
This is what I've read, seen, and heard in the media over the last few days:
- He will not pull troops out of Iraq. - He supports the NRA position of guns - He is OK with the death penalty for rapists - He supports telecom immunity
And the media says that Obama is angering his "liberal left base" by "moving to the center"
Excuse me, but since when are the above four things anywhere near the center?
Not pulling troops out of Iraq, not supporting gun control, condoning capital punishment in all cases, and supporting warrantless wiretapping are RIGHT WING POSITIONS, not "moderate", not "centrist". RIGHT WING.
I'm tired of how easily Americans fall for this garbage. In Italy, Germany, The UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland, Iceland, Japan, Australia, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, and Norway, a man like Dennis Kucinich would be labeled "centrist", or "moderate".
America has become such a neo conservative fascism that extreme right wing positions are seen as "the center". It's sickening.
