You want Obama to win in Nov? I am convinced the only way to achieve

I live in MA and I did travel to NH for Kerry in 2004, but I and others had the luxury of coming from his home state and we were 'superfluous' to the Kerry campaign in MA and were used as volunteers and sent to other states. Quite a common occurance and done in most elections.

I think this election cycle requires another level of thinking and involvement considering the poll coming out of Missouri.

Let's talk about precinct level politics......

I live in a town with 6 precincts with roughly 12,000 - 15,000 total voters which translates into 2000 voters per precinct IF everyone votes. Not everyone does. Most campaigns get a list of voters designated "A" voters - those who will vote simply because it is an election and they realize their civic duty - they will come out and vote when only 1 name is on the ballot that 's how serious they take voting. Then we have "B" voters who will vote in elections that have a 2opponents making that race marginally more significant in some cases( that's a joke), they are reliable but miss a few elections. Then we have "C" and "D" voters who will only vote in Presidential elections or hardly ever.

What I am trying to point out is that if you know the size of your precinct we are talking about a relativeley small number of voters that need to be contacted or identified.

Think about the significance of contacting someone who is your neighbor.....not someone from another state.....someone who lives a couple of streets away....it's doable, it's really a grassroots movement AND it will save on gas. Do you think your Republican neighbors will knock on doors this election cycle? I seriously doubt it. And when those neighbors of yours who identify themselves as "independent" realize that they won't be getting that knock on the door from the Republican in town - that means something. You don't have to 'sell Obama', you just have to signal to your neighbors that this election means enough to you for you to knock on their door.... and to ask them to take into consideration whether the Republicans will go to the same effort.

I am becoming more and more convinced that this this way we have to win this election.

1. Exactly. Community organizing groups on BO.com can do just that!

I created a group on BO.com for my small community and within days had 11 volunteers signed up. We now have 20 volunteers ready to knock on doors. We are holding our second meeting on Tuesday. This is the way Obama won the primary and it is the way we will win the Presidency...with EACH community organizing and putting boots on the ground in their neighborhood.

2. Thanks for keeping the eyes on the prize, politics as local, and how to spend less time blogging.

I'm convinced the FISA thing would be a negative ad had Obama voted no. Hillary gives the media an opportunity to bash, but I don't think the public knows this issue, or enough to even see necessary aspects, or the harm.

If people want to continue the primary fight as one last ditch opportunity, how are they helping in November. Remember much of her delegate lead was gotten before we voted, and few added later.

Because Obama is building our party to a big tent, something we said we needed, doesn't mean the Dem doctrinaires are helpful with their more narrow concern and labels. Let's try to win this.

I always say that Democrats eat their seed corn.

3. And those darn house parties seem to work.

We had one two weeks ago and someone from our party had one and then someone from that party is having one. There you have it 50 people have heard about Obama and many of those have signed up to work for the campaign. In Ohio we are picking away at it. It doesn't take money to make this thing fly, it takes man hours and feet on the ground. The time to get involved is now. Peace, Kim
