7. I'm on a "racism" rant today

I remember being in a restaurant in Springfield, Illinois, the evening Jesse gave his speech at the Democratic Convention the year when he almost got there in the primary. We made the restaurant folks turn up the TV so everyone could hear the speech. I have to tell you, at the end of that speech all of us white-ass crackers stood up and applauded. He didn't just talk about race that night, he talked eloquently about what it is like to be the working poor in AMERICA. His words are just as true today as they were then. NO ONE needs to run away from Jesse and Al. And it needs to stop from Obama and everyone here at DU. I love you guys, but sometimes... you make me ashamed.....................

In the same way that Maya Angelou supported Clinton, there are MANY old school African-Americans who love Jesse Jackson.

I'm not happy about this at all.

Not everyone dismisses the Reverend as casually as folks on DU would think.

5. Obama won't lose the black vote.

It ain't going to happen. It was a bigger issue in the primary because it was the DEMOCRATIC primary. However, in the general, with the other option being McCain, he'll clean up.

What this does is help him with the WHITE vote, a group he has struggled with in some key states. This happened in 1992 with Clinton. Clinton spoke in front of the RainbowPush Coalition and slammed Sister Souljah's comments, even equating her remarks to David Duke. This infiriated Jesse Jackson and many in the black community, yet it helped Clinton with moderate white voters, a group he had been struggling with up until that point.

Jesse Jackson will apologize, which will help keep this from blowing up in the black community. However, what he's apologizing for will radiate with white America. It sucks that's how politics is played, but that's just the way it is.

14. I think the part that stands out is: It is a good political move to isolate blacks to get whites!

The more I read, the more I have to admit Americans have a deep seated race problem. The race problem is not as obvious as white people hate black people.

I think it is fairly interesting people here would celebrate that the only way to get "moderate" (I'm assuming moderate means those who like black people to be or to feel insulted) is to find from their perspective what appears to be the blackest black person to knock down. If and when this or these actions are committed, it becomes known and obvious that the candidate won't concede any ground to this or these blackest black person/people.


Then to deflect the horror of that kind of statement, someone says hey it is political...no disrespect. If someone can say with a straight face that the only or the best way to get these "moderate" white voters is to do what is perceived as standing up/calling out/hurting black people, then what do the conservatives believe?


The fact that those two ideas (ie. in order to gain one you must disrespect the other AND people cry out about racism far too much or racism has been eradicated as a way of life in our society) exist in the same mind baffles me. Either someone is consciously making these racial choices and ignoring the impact because x, y, or z or someone is unconsciously making these racial choices and ignoring the impact...either way the consequences are the same: to hell with black voters because they have no where to go.

Well, Obama or any other politician needs to keep pressing black people into these artificial corners and watch what we do.

MSNBC's Race for the White House were saying. They also said Clinton's "no" vote today may helped to move Obama to the Center and wondered if it was planned between them. Yeah, no. If Hillary thought it would help Obama she wouldn't have done it.
