Sen. Menendez, who was running for re-election, voted to support the torture amendment. Made me livid. To my astonishment, Lautenberg voted for it too. Made me head-scratching livid.
Today, they both voted against retroactive immunity.
In 2006, when the Dems were making the Iraq war an issue, both Hillary and Obama voted against Kerry-Feingold. Made me livid.
Kerry has been one of the most consistent progressive Dems:
- Leading the Alito filibuster
- Speaking out and voting against torture and challenging the media's claim that McCain represented a departure from the GOP.
- Speaking out and voting against immunity.
I look forward to Obama as the next president. I only know one way to get there: a Democrat has to be able to attract support and win.
Obama is really good at that, and that's why he's the nominee.
Best of the bunch, and best positioned to help increase the Congressional Democratic majority.
Yes. We. Can.
