The campaign of Sen. John McCain raised just over $22 million during the month of June, a slight increase over the previous month, and anticipates the senator's efforts, along with fundraising for the Republican National Committee, will enable him to spend $200 million before he accepts his party's nomination in September.
The figures come from McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, who said in a conference call this afternoon that McCain expects to spend $410 million by the time the campaign reaches Election Day -- a number that includes $84 million in federal funds for the general election.
"I thought it was newsworthy to point out that we will have significant resources to prosecute a campaign that is robust," Davis said.
Davis said that between the money McCain's campaign has on hand ($26.7 million), the money the RNC has in the bank ($67 million), and money gathered by state party committees ($8 million), there is now nearly $102 million that can be spent on the campaign over the course of the summer.....
