A graph about taxes that I just sent out to all my email contacts
Sorry if it's been posted and I missed it.

I just received an email forward from an old friend, and it had all these horrible figures & amounts that Obama's plan would effect the average American. And it ticked me off so much that she would say she checked the link provided in the forward, and it looked accurate, then I go and look and all does is take you to CNN.com's money newslinks.

So, I found this One simple graph made directly from the 2 candidates plans, to dispel the tax lies being emailed about Obama.

Obama's plan gives a bigger percentage off current taxes with the less you make, which are the people suffering the most - ever heard of compassion, McCain?

McCain's plan gives cuts averaging nearly $270,000.00 to those making millions, and 1/5th of one percent in cuts to those making $9 an hour, which is 2 hours of their pay. How kind of him!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/06/09/ST2008060900950.html

and here's the graph from the story

Here's the bible verses I included with the email to everyone in my list, even ones who I don't talk to anymore because they actually side with B*sh and the invasion slaughter, all while going to their church each week! I love these verses and do try to live by them...

Matthew 25:35-40

35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

28. Actions speak louder than words. And money speaks louder than actions.
For the top .1%, to whom many listen hungrily, Obama represents a whopping $971,249 tax increase (Obama's increase, plus the opportunity cost of McCain's decrease), or up to 33% more taken from their income.

Blue Cross Blue Shield raised my rates 25% the first year, and 28% the second year, and on the 3rd year when they wanted a 30% increase, I told them to go screw themselves. For that very same reason, they don't vote Obama; it's absolutely infuriating to have that much of an increase.

There are millions of people in this country who aspire to be just like those .1%, and they think the way to get there is by emulation: thus, everyone who is already filthy stinking rich, and everyone who aspires to be filthy stinking rich, votes for the candidate that lowers taxes the most for themselves and those they want to be.

14. thank you!
thank you thank you! :)

This is something we should all use, and I hope it gets more recs than just these, thousands would see it if it makes the front page.

This is the MEAT AND POTATOES issue for many moderates - well, here they go! How many people do we each know who makes MORE than 150K a year??? I know ONE closely, the rest make $6000-80000. and these people will be benefited by Obama becoming president.

McCain is for the rich and the graph proves it! I was so upset with my friend for sending the crappy lie email forward, but I hope she admits she realizes the truth now.

take care NattPang!

11. Graph can't beat old hag telling McSame that she's taxed at birth, taxed at death etc.
Edited on Mon Jul-14-08 10:10 PM by Democrats_win
Literally, this happened at a town-hall meeting in Denver. This made for good TV--and angry woman, complaining about taxes. Oddly, the woman wasn't born in America so I can't see how she was taxed at birth. Maybe she was a born-again false "christian."

She had been in America for 55 years, an immigrant from Lebanon. She lives in Golden, CO and evidently she flew her broom to the meeting in Denver because she surely wouldn't use tax-payer funded roads. Still, she had the audacity to make her remarks in a tax-payer funded building. She has no clue that her tax money is used to purchase the things she uses.

Isn't it about time Americans recognized that we are in FACT paying the taxes of rich people through bush's inflation? If we collected the taxes from rich people, we wouldn't need to borrow from China. Our borrowing from China brings down the value of the dollar--this is inflation. Thus, through inflation, you are given the burden of the rich man's taxes.

12. This is awesome! The wrong perception of taxes kills us each election & this will help!
I'm printing this off and keeping it in my wallet, ready to pull out for any of my acquaintances who are worried that Obama is going to raise taxes on them. I'm sick of explaining how Democrats are not going to raise taxes on anyone but the wealthiest people. It will be a lot easier to pull this out of my wallet and shove it in their faces. Thanks for posting.

17. Graphic is nice
Though I don't understand what it has to do with the bible verses you included. I doubt God will use your tax records or voting history to determine whether or not one has treated the "least of these" well.

19. thank you
and why the verses are included - there are people scraping by, or better yet, starving even though they work - and their tax burden should be eased - and how the powerful treat the least of these is very important.

McCain shows no compassion to the suffering, and never has in vote after vote.

I believe thousands of people will be forwarding that graphic. I sent it to over 500 people.

20. It's simple arithmetic and logic that Republican voters have trouble with
The less the rich guys are paying, the larger the burden everyone else will have to carry. And that doesn't even take into account McLame wanting to eliminate the estate tax - which only hits people with 2+ million dollars to begin with.
There was a Simpsons episode a few years ago, with Homer in the voting booth thinking out loud who to vote for and finally deciding on Side Show Bob because "Well, SideShow Bob did try to kill me, but I really want those tax cuts for the rich". (I'm messing up the line I'm sure, but that was the gist of it and it made its point well!)

22. devil's advocate
what percent of voters make over $111,646? (everyone in this and above brackets will pay less under mccain). as we know, the poor are much much less likely to vote.

23. What people don't seem to bring up with this, is that this
is income tax. Almost no one makes 2.87 million in income tax. Uber-rich are most likely making it in capital gains or dividends. Neither of which apply to these charts.

Also what would be the chances McCain would get anything even close to this through a Dem congress... 0. What would be the chances Obama would get his plan through a Dem congress, almost guaranteed.

24. the "average cut" statistic is misleading
When data is strongly skewed, the average (mean) should not be used. The median is a much better measure. The median is the number that divides the data in half. Half of all taxpayers would receive more than the median, and half would receive less. Since 60 % of taxpayers fall into the bottom three categories, the median cut under McW would be under $300 and under Obama would be at least $700

30. true, it does give that information
but John Q. Public will see the "average" tax cut and think they are "average" and so will personally fare much better under McW's plan.
