Cindy McCain recently gave a rare private interview to CNN in which she disclosed her opinions on transportation in Arizona, her home state. The McCain's have tried to distance themselves from elitism, but apparently Mrs. McCain believes that the only way to get around is by "small private plane."

It isn't Siberia or the Gobi Desert where outposts of civilization are few and far between. We got around fine in a car, driving every summer from Phoenix to Pacific Beach, CA. We drove up to the mountains near Flagstaff. I climbed on a bus to travel to camp. My sister still lives there very comfortably without a private plane and I doubt she's suffering any deprivation because of i

most of the population is in very few cities.... Phoenix metro area, Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma and a few others.
I doubt the McBush's would bother visiting the tiny towns in between these few.

When we lived in AZ we got around by car just fine. We took many road trips around the state, as well as trips to surrounding states, and were surprised to discover that AZ keeps their roads in top condition. Coming from IL, we were used to roads dotted with pot holes.

Maybe Cindy avoids car travel with John because his driving skills are no better than his flying skills. Either that or she's an elitist snob.
