Bush deserves impeachment, followed by investigation, indictment, conviction and punishment. And all the Speaker of the House can manage is a back-handed insult that is so subtle that 2/3ds of the country won't pick up on it.

This isn't an insult to the president so much as an insult to due process, the Constitution and the American people.

They are not culturally southern or so forth. :-)

But the Mason-Dixon line does separate MD from the Yanks. I was strictly speaking geographically. Real southerners MIGHT call MD a "border state" when feeling generous. ;-)

Southern Pedigree: Being born in CA is an anomaly in my line - my southern roots are far and deep - Tennessee going back for 175+ years, Virginia a little farther back, North Carolina about the same as VA, South Carolina during Revolutionary War times, and Alabama at about 160+ years or so back. 1 3x-great-grandfather and 2 2x-great-grandfathers were Confederate soldiers, and I lived in TN and VA for 15 1/2 of my first 20 years. We left CA before I was even 2, so my first memories are of Hixson, TN, in the shadow of Lookout Mountain! :D

Or Ruby Falls, for that matter. When we were stationed in Georgia, we'd drive past Lookout Mountain on the way to visit my dad's family in Hohenwald, TN. Never did manage to talk my parents into stopping, no matter how many painted barns we drove past. :7

We had one of the See Rock City birdhouses hanging from a tree in our front yard. :-) We brought it with us to Spain (one of the segments of time I didn't live in the south in my youth, although it was southern Spain, lol) and may have had the only See Rock City birdhouse on the Iberian peninsula. :7

When we arrived in Hixson, my grandparents from Clarksville came down a few days later, and the first thing that my granddad said was, "I want to see Rock City". :rofl: So we did. I remember Lover's Leap, some of the Mother Goose exhibits, and my great-Uncle George pretending to be caught in Fat Man's Squeeze. My sister and I bravely pushed him free. Fun, fun!

congress' approval rating is at its lowest and they have done a terrible job of sweeping up after him. Sweeping under the rug would be more like it and we southerners know that sweeping under the rug doesn't equal cleaning up.
