McCain critiques Obama Afghan trip
AP - Somewhere on the StraightTalk Express

By Dewey Cheetham.

"Here let me draw you a map" Senator
McCain offering to illustrate precisely
Senator Obama's likely itinerary in Kabul

McCain: Afghanistan trip will help Obama improve his security perspective.

Senator McCain took a middle of the road approach commenting on Senator's landing in Afghanistan by saying that he hoped that the trip will help the Democratic Nominee "gain a valuable experience in understanding the practical side of maintaining security". McCain reminisced about his previous trips to Afghanistan saying that "the Secret Service always prefers taking highway 105 and then coming in the back way to Kabul on the seldom used Malakaar cut off 5 miles south of the capitol. I found it a very scenic route and was always impressed that I had such a good view from the third car in the motorcade."

McCain seemed to be trying to stress his familiarity with the area and his personal experience as an advantage by stating that "he was sure that Obama and President Karzai would have a complete breifing and probably go together to lunch to the Kabul Kabob Restaurant that Karzai likes to take Americans to."

"Its important that Obama get a feel for the practical aspects of security, right there on the field. These are the basic instincts that us old hands pick up from decades of military and security involvement. Senator Obama will have to be careful that he learns how to seperate careful material given to him in top secret briefings and not just spreading that all over the place when he tries to communicate his policy ideas to the public."

McCain went on to say that it is important that Obama also get some idea of the civil rebuilding projects that are so important in Afghanistan. He added "I understand that in the afternoon, around 3:00 the Senator and the entire group will be visiting the Boys Junior Agricultural Training Institute located just north of Kabul, here let me show you where it is." And then Senator McCain demonstrated his detailed knowledge of the area by drawing a crude map on a napkin in front of appreciative cameras.

"If a person is going to try and be President", the candidate concluded, "he has to learn how to be discreet and security conscious at all times."

1. Despicable.
This man is more vile than Bush and would be a far more irresponsible pick for a nation to make.

is this a "thing" in Arizona? Really really tight leather blazers and over-lightened hair? (Ha! As if I should talk about the second part of that!)

6. Sounds like this was written by the Zuckers, creators of "Airplane!"...

Ted Striker: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.

Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back?

Ted Striker: I can't tell you that. It's classified.

7. McCain is SO experienced in the area
He goes out into markets surrounded by hundreds of US soldiers, wearing
bullet-proof gear, thinks it's a normal everyday situation, and thinks
he knows the area.

How could he be wrong? After all doesn't EVERYONE in Iraq and Afghanistan
go to market surrounded by a hundred American soldiers, and wearing flak jackets?

The only reason he has some little popularity is because he ran against the biggest asshole in the country in 2000 for the rethug nomination.

34. Well, while the assholiness of Craig has been stretched lately, I think you'll find he is not
as big of a national disgrace to the GOP as McCain.
At least Craig isn't considering being named as McCain's vice president anyway.

By the way, Craig won't tell anyone where he intends to live once he leaves office in January.
One rumor has it that he might move back into his mother's basement.
But, his mother has already publicly stated that she doesn't want him to move back into her basement.

Another rumor says that he will get onboard of his yacht, and go sailing off into the distance, and just before he gets to the horizon, ignite his craft and go out like a Viking.

Yeah, right.

Hahahahahahaha!

19. Obama leads Bush/ McCain by the nose
McCain likes to think he has the upper hand, but not so. How does one proclaim to be great on national security and now is taking on Obama's foreign policy about engaging with our enemies.

McCain is furious that the media is paying so much attention as well as some world leaders out there to Obama that he can not stand it. When he took his trip over the spring to meet some of these leaders, the press stated that they were not expecting McCain, did not really give him a warm welcome, and sort of accommodated him anyway even though he showed up unannounced. The guy reeks of annoyance, and he can not help but rub people the wrong way. He strikes me as a guy that thinks he knows all the answers because he was caught by the enemy which for the life of me, I still to this do not know why any one would go to him for anything. He hides behind Gramm’s economic policy, general Pateros’s war plan, Black's terrorism remarks, and now McCain/Bush is following Obama's Foreign Policy. Who is leading who here? McCain's campaign is run by these people-and not one word of those policies are McCain’s-he just wants to president, he can not be bothered with solving US issues. But what he does know that he was a hero-and he will tell that story over and over and throw in some B***t while he is at it depending who his audience will be. It seems that McCain's only expertise in anything is really torture. I mean it was apart of his life for 5 years. He never won a war or ran anything in the military. He was at the bottom of his class-and frankly I don't think he has his marbles in place just because of what he did go through-and you would think he would change his mind on torture/ Bush, but no- he wants to drag us down even further- a screw-up-just like his father told him in the past when he was responsible for an accident killing 700 lives on a ship out on sea and shooting his own plane down in Vietnam before they caught him. It goes on and on. He is simply not fit or smart.

McCain would rather be on that trip with Obama-so the media is focused not just on Obama, but on McCain showing Obama where everything is, where they are, where they will be going, who they will see, what restaurants leaders like to take Americans to, most importantly having a camera shine on his paper napkin map in which he tells Obama the security roads. He wants to lead Obama by the nose, when Obama does not need him because just like McCain who needed to come overseas to find out what the ground was like and he too needed to be brief, Obama will also be taking cared of the same people who took care of McCain- Nice try McCain.

Please do not repeat that.

It is a false smear attack.

talking about his trip before he goes? As if info on McCain's whereabout wasn't on lock-down in the days leading up to his multiple trips to the region. As if McCain himself wasn't told to keep his mouth shut about his plans for trips to the middle east. What on earth was he thinking.

That would really show the appreciative cameras how knowledgeable you are about foreign affairs.

35. Ha Ha...what about the map in his head that Iraq is on the border of pakistan and afghan
Ahhhh- Iraq is nearly 800 miles or so from the Pakistan and afghan region....what the hell is he talking about? My 12 year-old studied that last year when they went over the Middle East Conflict...and he wants to be commander in chief because.....he wants to be Commander and Chief!!! Life, Long, Long, Long dream. It just shows that anyone as stupid as him can really become anything they want to be in America....NOT THIS TIME...You have to graduate from school-not flunk out of it and not have Admiral Daddy talk to the head administrator just to get him back in school....

32. Sounds kind of patronizing
Interesting critique, and he is probably right in some of his points. But he sounds patronizing, and this is not the first time we've seen him act dismissive of Obama. I understand that McCain feels Obama has less experience and in his mind that makes him less worthy of the presidency, but I think he owes him the decency of treating him like a serious opponent, especially considering the fact that Obama is leading in the polls.

Or is it a foregone conclusion that no one wants that position?

Hell, who would want to be on a losing ticket, anyway?

Have you seen the papers today?
Obama gets something like 58% of the vote in any state . . except in the state of denial.

LoL
