More specifically, I'd prefer a group that includes but is not limited to Biden Edwards Richardson Sebelius Kerry Clark Reed Ritter Schweitzer Hart Feingold Boxer Harkin RFK Jr Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg Dodd Graham Gore Kucinich Napolitano SherrodBrown JerryBrown Wexler Waxman BillBradley Holtzman et al

to a group that includes Republican dunderheads, thieves, and slimeballs such as anyone McCain is likely considering.

The lone exceptions on the GOP side would be people who are not Coburn- or Cornyn-style Pukes -- someone like Olympia Snowe or Lincoln Chafee -- who, although I still prefer a Democrat to either, would be far less objectionable than someone cut from the same rag as George Allen had been cut, or Rick Santorum, et al.

That said, I'd rather have Olympia Snowe than Sam Nunn; Linc Chafee over the Jeb Bush-endorsing former Mayor of Tampa; and Ted Bundy over Zell Miller. But these exceptions are few and far between.

We have too many excellent choices to cast anyone aside, whether for the veep slot or a Cabinet position, and in all history by my count there've only been 6 or 7 Republicans worth a damn -- Lincoln, Pete McCloskey, Lowell Weicker, possibly Snowe and Chafee in degree -- and that's pretty much it.

I think Obama should stick with the blue list and I predict he will.
