One thing that is becoming increasingly apparent is the MSM's continued refusal to give Obama credit for his correct calls. For example:
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/22/1213839.aspxMost recently, when the Iraqis echoed his calls for a timetable for withdrawal, the MSM has chalked it up to "luck." However, is it really luck that a nation seeking its soveriegnty would want to have a definite timeline for the withdrawal of foreign troops? If the U.S. was invaded and occupied, would it be lucky to guess that the American people would want a definite timeline for the withdrawal of foreign troops? Yet, the MSM does not credit Obama for making an obvious call that the GOP refuses to acknowledge.
Likewise, the MSM credits "luck" for the increasing violence in Afganistan matching Obama's position that the war in Iraq has diverted the U.S.'s attention from this area. Luck? Again, Obama makes a call that many Democrats have made, yet rather than giving credit for the correct call, the MSM chalks it up to luck as though it is not foreseeable that taking troops from Afganistan and putting them in Iraq would lead to a deterioration in Afganistan.
Finally, this was noted by another DUer, but McCain himself noted in 2001 that the U.S. should finish the job in Afganistan before even considering military action in Iraq. So, who is exercising common sense and who is being idealogical?
This is not a matter of luck. This is a matter of the Obama and the Democrats making the common sense call.
