Bill Richardson to John McCain: Stop Whining
The Hill

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is "overreacting" and "whining" in response to The New York Times refusing to run his editorial about Iraq.

Richardson, who supports Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president, said in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday that the rejection of McCain's editorial is not surprising because The New York Times turns down many editorials from politicians, including presidential candidates.

"Well, look, The New York Times is very fussy. I mean, I've sent many editorials that they've rejected — in fact, most of them," Richardson said.

Richardson said he did not think the newspaper showed "preferential treatment" or media bias, because they have run seven editorials from McCain in the past.

"A newspaper shouldn't be expected to accept a politician's op-ed unedited," Richardson said. "I think what the editor was saying is that if you make it a pro/con editorial … that makes sense."

The newspaper refused McCain’s editorial after accepting one from Obama last week. Times Op-Ed page editor David Shipley told the McCain campaign to resubmit an editorial that "mirrors Sen. Obama’s piece" by specifically including "how Sen. McCain defines victory in Iraq."

2. Christ, even GOP puppet Mark Halperin basically took NYT's side on this.
On Morning Joe, he said something like "The New York times has standards." heh!

3. That's GREAT. Portray McCain as a whiner.
Seriously, there's plenty to use against him in that respect. Keep pushing this "whiner" stuff while adding a few "cry baby"'s and the image will end up etched into the conscience.

14. I agree completely.
Actually, I've been thinking lately that McCain is really sounding like a whiner..."Boo hoo, the press is in the Middle East with Obama," "Boo hoo, the New York Times won't print my editorial." Honestly, every time you turn around, he's whining about something. So, I was thrilled to see Richardson call him on it and I think we should all be pushing this frame. Because it's true! He's becoming a big ol', cry baby, whiner

15. Imagine if Obama whined like this, imagine Kerry in 2004.
"Librul sissy..*drool*..."

They would be hammered into next week, dismissed as lily livered & pathetic, the sort of weak men who could never be worthy Presidents.
