It must suck to be John McCain and have all that huge
sense of entitlement that the presidency is "his due" and have to deal with a brilliant opponent like Obama. McCain has spent decades conniving and selling his soul and sucking up to the Bush clan to get where he is today. Heck, he shredded one marriage to get him to connections and money to launch a career and tossed an innocent child to the wolves (please note I never referred to busses or the throwing of anyone under said bus). He's bartered and haggled and weaseled. Simpered and grinned. Begged, borrowed, and likely stolen. All that sweating to look like a craven fool.

1. The GOP really does seem to function on the "it's my turn!!" dynamic.
Just look at their nominees.

McCain, Dole, GHWB, Nixon, etc.

2. Few Republicans are used to having to work for any damn thing.
That's the most glaring difference between any Democrat--ANY Dem--and the power base of the Republican Party.

I love to see them squirm!

5. did anyone see the comic Chuck Nice (he's on Best week Ever) on MSNBC earlier?
He and Alex Twit were talking about the "arrogance factor", and Chuck said "there's a difference between arrogance, and confidence. Someone could just be confident and comfortable in knowing what they're doing. Arrogance is the complete opposite...it's claiming that you know everything, when you have NO IDEA what you're talking about most of the time. Like another guy. I'm not naming any names..." and then he started doing the yosemite sam impression and shooting guns in the air, clearly talking about McCain. And said "I woudn't want to disrespect the office", and did the impression again. "hint, hint". It was pretty funny.

6. Just from your description
it sounds like he's talking about Bush. Since he's the one in the office that people traditionally don't want to disrespect. But, what do I know...you're the one who saw it.
