When's Obama coming back to put an end to the silliness?
Has anyone noticed just how once Obama went on his vacation, coincidentally the level of discourse all around just got really silly and completely useless? It's like without him making sure that we're actually talking about the issue and being a good role model, the MSM, the politicians and even some Obama supporters can't help but go back to using the same old political tactics.

I know Obama needs a rest and I like that he knows his own limits to know that he needs rest (and unlike others, doesn't claim to be Superman or something like that). But I can't help but miss him. Hopefully he will be able to come back from his vacation ready to just brush off all this BS and let us focus on the important issues.

1. I think he's supposed to come back this weekend?
some folks were saying Monday would be the earliest VP announcement.

2. The world isn't all here on DU. Most Americans don't give a rat's ass about the campaign now.
He'll be back, rested, refreshed, revitalized, and he's gonna kick some serious butt when he comes back.

The Convention is gonna kick ass all over the place, too.

Am I wrong to not be worried in the least? I don't think so, but YMMV.

4. I'm not worried at all. The average American is not paying attention to the silliness
at this time. I don't care what the polls say. People are sick and tired. They are watching the Olympics. Taking vacations before school and college begins. They are preoccupied with other things UNTIL THE CONVENTION. Nothing matters right now. It won't matter until we get to the conventions.

I also think that I see what the strategy is for Obama. McSame has to spend some money and he has to spend it fast. That's why there have been a slew of these awful ads right now.

Once Obama returns, he'll go full throttle. Remember this man has been campaigning nonstop for 2 years. McSame enjoyed a two-month headstart after the Rethug primaries and he STILL cannot close the deal? Seems to me that it is HE who has the problems, not Obama. The main issue for Obama is getting people to know him and understand who he is. If people don't pay attention to politics until the convention, then the polls make sense. For now, let the guy rest. He hasn't had time to himself or his family. Give him a break; let him rest and come back rejuvenated.

Do we see Obama worrying? He's on vacation but is still making relevant statements and running ads. I think he's got a grander plan and a magnificent strategy up his sleeve. I'm just not worry.

I'll start to worry if after the conventions, he falters. I'm more worried about the October Surprise than anything else...

5. Exactly.
If you're not a political junkie the campaign's the last thing on your mind right now. It's going on vacation, getting kids ready for school, watching the Olympics, anything but politics right now.
Let Obama get some well-deserved rest.

3. Exactly. I posted the same question yesterday...
Freaking rats are throwing a party in the corn silo.

I can not wait until he gets back here.

8. Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous that Obama seems to be the only adult in this political arena.
How the fuck did that work out? How did politics come to be dominated by people who won by being the most childish?

6. Hopefully, come September he'll unleash
a massive, non-stop barrage on McCain. I really hope that's why he's holding his fire. If he continues to try and be "above the fray" it's not going to work.

As for his vacation, I think it was just unfortunate that the Georgia thing happened now.

7. actually....
I think it's good he's not here right now...

McCain is making a mess of things...
can hardly string together two cohesive sentences...
may have gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar...

Barack's team has time to put some facts together...
and roll with it when he gets back...

9. Although the Georgia thing might have been deliberate since the worsening of the situation
can be blamed on Bush and McCain. This reminds me of when Bushco raised the fucking terror alert and got another Osama bin Laden tape released like right before the elections.
