To their discredit most news media continue to shamelessly broadcast the Swift Boat malarkey, now a riddled Sieve Boat of decomposing lies and thoroughly debunked allegations. There are no valid issues here, just stink and smoke. Whether Kerry was in Cambodia at a particular time is irrelevant. The real question has always been, “Where was George?” Despite being disproved from all sides, Smeargate remains Bush’s reply to Kerry’s plea for a positive campaign predicated on the issues. It should be condemned by all patriotic Americans and especially by those with strong Christian and family values. For G.W. Bush with his reptilian record of military cowardice and desertion, incubating this rotten egg is like embracing a live grenade. But he has no choice since the White House is one of only two groups calculating to benefit from this Borgia Bush Bandwagon. The second group are those heroes fantasizing that defeating Kerry will ease their wounded pride and personal Vietnam demons. A full transcript of Kerry’s remarks reveals that he relates only hearsay recollections of others; he blames the nature of war and the country and not individuals for any atrocities; he decries tactics such as search and destroy and free fire zones; and he stridently opposes continuation of an unwinnable and morally questionable war (views ultimately embraced by most Americans). The important point is that if there had been more patriots like Kerry, there would be fewer names on the Vietnam Wall. If that is “treason,” then genocide is charity. True patriots never attack the views and personal military sacrifices of another veteran. To continue to do so is a betrayal of the contributions of all who have worn the uniform, and specifically all who have been decorated for heroic service. In response to this outrage, no loyal and patriotic American should remain silent.
