I know 'inconvertible' usually pertains to money/coin. I'm usin' it anyway.
I've been having a(n often heated) debate with a friend of mine. He's quite affluent, being a Neuroradiologist. He swears that an Obama presidency will force him to pay exorbitant taxes. We've gone round and round about the issue.
So I emailed him a link to ihavenobias'
brilliant OP, then kinda held my breath. I mean, some of our debates have been *very* ... erm ... lively.
Here's his (brief) response:
Hey Doll!
Thanks for the clarification. I guess I won't feel so bad if Obama wins.
Le DocOkay okay, so he's still not converted. But I'm tellin' you, it's a FAR CRY from his previous responses in our ongoing debate.
Undaunted, I wrote back:
What's up Doc?
It means a lot to me that you even took the time to visit the link, and I hope you took further time to visit the afforded imbedded links.
Now, don't get mad, 'cause I'm not pointing any fingers ... honest.
But even for people who're in the $227,000-$603,000 bracket, is an extra dollar per month so bad, considering how much good it will do for our country as a whole? It'll help working class families; it'll go toward offering health care to Americans who have none (which should mean something to you, being a doctor and all); it'll go toward schools, offering our children a better education, thereby making us a stronger nation in the long run; it'll help rebuild infrastructure; it'll go toward renewable energy, thereby making the world our children, and our children's children, inherit a better place to live ... at the same time creating hundreds of thousands (if not more) new 'green' jobs that cannot be outsourced; and it will help rebuild our ailing (at best) economy. I just don't see how someone could vote against that.
Okay. There. I won't press the issue further.
For now. ;D
~ AWe'll see what he says to that. I'm not giving up. If I can't convert him, I may just have to wish him the best and say farewell. Shame. Outside of our political differences, he's a good guy. But after the attrocities of the last eight years ... I just can't stomach a Republican. Not even one who's been a good friend.
