My guess is Condi said "fuck no, I don't want it."
I'm thinking the repubs asked a series of women who all ran like a bastid knowing they don't have a shot in hell of winning this election.

Talk about tying them to Bush! But then again, we've seen no evidence to support the contention that they're not fools. But why not Kay Bailey Hutchinson? Or Liddy Dole, FFS? There are a lot of qualified female Repukes (crazy, wrong, but qualified).

The Rethug powers-that-be wouldn't have stood for it. If they have to pick a woman, it would be one who is new enough to the halls of powers to be easily controlled.
