Joined my county listserv at Obama website. What a disappointment!
I started getting emails and it was a bunch of obnoxious immature people bickering at one another. I had really expected to find out how to get involved in the campaign, get information about meetups and events, read comments about the policies of the campaign, etc. Instead it was a bunch of personal attacks and whining about posting behavior.

I certainly hope there is another way to get involved in the Obama campaign without going through the county groups on his website. This was utterly distasteful.

1. I'd go through your local group of Democrats.
Does your county have an active group? Mine does, and the grassroots support for Obama sprang directly from it.

5. you might have a "Progressive Democrats for America" chapter near you.
here's a link:

I'm in one of the Chicago chapters we have great political informational meetings and canvass for local and national politicians. It's great!

2. put the groups on digest form - or you will get buried by emails
and go to the Event section of the website - put in your zipcode. Attend events.

6. Nobody talks on mine. (That site is mostly use for picking up new people when they hit the site)

I post events all the time and I never get a response! Luckily, I kept my list of volunteers and their numbers from the primary. They hardly get on the county site but we email each other privately. I've developed 8 pages of volunteers through events like cookouts and the watch party, other local campaigns we work in-sync with, and unions. We've all been trying to band together so we don't go through the same neighborhoods wastefully. It's sort of worked but it's been hard to all get together. But we're doing it--we've exchanged materials to make sure everybody has everybody else's materials to handout at once. I was deemed the coordinator of my small rural county. This is the most activity I've seen in my life--but it's still not like I'd like to see it. Maybe it will pick up even more the closer we get. The organizer said we needed to get setup early and get a base early. We have a base now, it's just getting everyone going. They've never done this before--Indiana has not had to do this nor had the resources for a long long time....

7. "people bickering at one another"
I hate to say it, but it sounds like a typical day at DU during the run up to the choice of nominee. LOL?

I do hope you find a good way to join the campaign. Have you checked your local Dem headquarters?
