For all those who think she helped herself tonight, you fail to realize she faces the exact same balancing act Clinton faced in the primary. Don't come off as too tough, but not too weak, either. Clinton could never really do that, but Palin tonight came off as a very cold, calculating and hate filled person. That might play well with the Republicans, but it will turn off moderate women and moderate voters especially. They will see this as a message of partisan politics, since she could not prop her own self up without attacking Obama.

This is not 2004 anymore. Americans don't want divisive politics. What Obama did so well in his speech Thursday was that he balanced out the sharp attacks with the inspirational rhetoric. Palin only sharply attacked and it will turn voters off. Especially those female voters who are soccer moms and see someone who overstepped her grounds tonight.

They don't want an angry vindictive female. They want a calm, levelheaded and respectful one.

And that was proven at the Democratic Convention. Plans were laid out and everyone spoke calmly and uplifting, as opposed to hateful and angry and I think that is what voters are looking for. The Republicans have set their ticket's tone for this election and it's not one American people will like.

6. I agree with much of what you say, except that Hillary had something

else going for her that Palin does not: Age, seasoning, good breeding, experience, education, and just generally a stateswoman-like bearing. Hell, that's why she was inevitable right up till January. Seeing clips, Palin came off like a snotty city councilwoman, not like a national figure.

Hillary had a resume and is far and above a better than Palin, but she often faced the same obstacles, don't come off as too hard, but also don't appear to be too soft, either.

And you know what? Obama has almost the same issue. Too many people thought he was too soft and that played well to many moderate women. So if he turned around and hit, hit and hit...well, it could have been seen as a bad thing. His speech, though, was a balancing act. He punched, but also inspired.

Palin never inspired.

Clinton also managed to do it in her convention speech, as well.

Obama had to balance the line between angry and inspirational and he's done it. Palin had to, as well and I think she failed.
