When you think about it, you have the old rich guy who is out of touch in ways only the super rich can be: forgets how many houses, thinks people wouldn't work for $50 an hour, wife thinks you simply must have an airplane, spends 250,000 a year on domestic help, has had credit charges of 500,000 in a month, doesn't think health care is a big deal.
Rich. Old. Out of Touch
Then you have the far west, ariel hunting, polar bear hating Governor of the most isolated and corrupt state in the country with the oil subsidized ,smallest population in America, whose personal beliefs are among the most extreme of any major candidate in years and years. Of course she's for drilling, it puts money in the pocket of every Alaskan, including her and her family while it won't make a lick of difference to most Americans in their pocketbook.
Extreme. Remote. Anti-environment. Self-serving
Now, looking at it in these terms, where is the appeal? It's not there. They have zilch pocketbook appeal (except for their usual tax canards). They have no coherent programs for healthcare or education. Neither one of them has a clue about things like mass transit and transportation.
Most of America is struggling middle-class that live in Urban and Sub-urban areas around the country. They are not rich and they do not shoot moose and fish for salmon as recreation. Overall, most have fairly moderate views. Their concerns are healthcare, the cost of gas, and being able to keep a roof over their head. Their purchasing power has eroded to drastic levels as their salaries do not keep pace with inflation.
Now, we must find effective ways to promote ourselves and our agenda and our beautiful candidates over a rich, old, out of touch guy running with a self-serving, extreme, anti-environmentalist who literally offer NOTHING. Nothing that will make a difference in the life of the average American.
