Seriously, is the media really going to go with the pig story
and let that dominate the debate for the next two days or so? another example of the GOP trying to divert attention from issues. Obviously Obama wasn't speaking about Palin. Yet Palin will be given a pass for her consistent LYING on the campaign trail.

1. Good!

And Obama campaign needs to put out the quote from McCain using the same term.

5. Yes, it's excellent
Because it makes the McCain people seem kooky at the same time it focuses on Obama's major point, that the McCain people are dressing up the same old policy as something new. It's a big plus for us.

2. Pig story = big Obama win...it makes McCain look unhinged
and forces them to play the clip where Obama is 1) clearly not referring to palin and 2) clearly referring to the 10 ways Mccain is just like Bush.

This was a perfect play by Obama, and the GOPers are stepping in it.

4. I hope so
but call me old fashioned but I would rather the debate be about rising unemployment, high gas prices and the war.

8. It is about that...you have to get to those points through the pig nonsense
But the pig nonsense allows the entry into just those discussions (OK, so what WAS he talking about/ Well, I'm glad you aksed...).

Don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This is an excellent attack and strategy by Obama, and he should even ramp it up.

9. It's trivial, simple, and easy to beat into the ground. So
of COURSE that's the angle they'll fixate on. Thank goodness it's one that makes McCrash look like an idiot (of course, that's what I said about his picking the holy nazi babe).

14. A few points.
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 11:42 PM by Jackpine Radical
1) Obama did not mention Palin in his comment. He certainly did not call her a pig.
2) Every time a an uncommitted, slightly-informed voter sees Palin, he will think "Lipstick. Pig."
3) The more noise the McCain people make about this, the more strength # 2 will acquire in the public mind.
4) Obama wins.

Brilliant. Lakoff Score =+6.

(I just invented that. Lakoff scores can range between -10 to +10 depending on their effectiveness.)

15. This made up controversy fires up the base, and opens their wallets.
It's a tactic, but at least Obama's back in the news, and he can pooh pooh this nonsense, and get a chance to talk about the issues at the same time.

19. It's a good thing. It is not easy to call them what they are indirectly. Good for the base
and undecideds who were falling for the tough talk from McBush and Palin-pig.

20. McCain has made so many WORSE pig comments of his own, it will backfire.
He used the word pig when responding about Hillary Clinton.

He used the word pig when responding about Mitt Romney.

And lord knows, there's even more to dig up on McCain's sexist comments of the past.

Obama never referred to Palin in those comments. It was all about McCain.

DING, DING, DING!!

This is a non-story and a non-issue and we shouldn't allow them to divert attention from the real news. Now, about that trooper issue...

25. OH NOES! PEOPLE WILL THINK BARACK IS MEAN!
Good. Seriously, did you see the RNC? These people are vile and for some reason it works for them. If McCain can try to cheaply pilfer some of Barack's women vote, Barack can pilfer some of McCain's asshole vote. It's only fair.

26. All Team Obama has to do is quote McCain using it about Hillary Clinton's policy
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 04:54 AM by CakeGrrl
I doubt Obama made TWO deliberate analogies of McCain/Mooseburgers' false promotion of change without playing out the fallout scenario at least a couple of moves deep.

The whiny reactionaries in the McCain camp make it seem like they've never heard an age-old phrase while McCain himself used it. While they're writhing over this, Obama/Biden can continue to hammer them on the issues on the stump.

What is all the fuss about....McCain used those very words in describing Hillary....where is the UTube of that? and besides that...Obama NEVER used those terms in reference to Palin, it was the crowd that took it that way...
