7. the military is not rehab
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 06:07 AM by jpertello
If the boy needs rehab the military is not the place for him at all! The stress and pressures of being shipped overseas into a war zone will force him to work though withdrawal in the worst possible environment. Or he, like millions of other military men before him, will find drugs (don't put it past anyone to find solace in prescription drugs while in Iraq.) Oxy and Vicodin are hot drugs over there readily available either on the black market or through prescription. He will come back more messed up than ever. Only an ignorant parent would see military service as a way to tame a wild young man. (Admiral McCain)

11. You may know that. I may know that.
There are people out here who will see it as the kid making something of himself. It fits the conservative model of dealing with inconvenient issues. Wrap the problem in a flag and salute and everything is alright.

2. I just finished reading this from another thread.
Good for the Enquirer. The Obama/Biden people can't be seen as getting anywhere near this stuff, but hell, if the Enquirer is looking into this, good for them.

After all of the stuff about Palin already out, nothing would surprise me about her and her family anymore.

4. Interesting. Palin voters are the kind that buys these kind of mags, too
I'm sure Republicans will find something to celebrate in Track's tracks.

5. One can't help but wonder if this will actually help Palin.
"Just another soccer mom," with a pregnant teenager and an intractable, drug-using son. She said she'd be an advocate for mothers with children who have special needs; maybe she can also provide leadership for mothers whose kids are crapping out every which way. :sarcasm:

Doesn't sound like my family.

8. I think this will help her, too.
It plays into her story as a regular mom. Also, she comes off as a strict mom by putting him in the army.

12. As a mother of three, two of them teens,
it seems apparent to me that if she can't at least run her family, Palin is unsuited to run the country. I realize that some kids go astray, but two of them?
