What is going on? Obama opening office in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
I just got an invite to the grand opening of Obama's new campaign office in Tulsa.

Tulsa?

At this point, it would seem they'd only be going into areas that are up for grabs. Does Obama know something I don't?

1. Oklahoma is about as red as it gets
Beats me why Obama would want an office there. Although, my family says Brad Henry who is a Dem has been elected twice now.

5. Yes, Henry is an OK Governor. Not as progressive as I'd like, but better
than any Repug.

Tulsa also has a Democratic female Mayor, and she is doing good things for the city, although the Repugs certainly criticize everything she does.

9. Yes, Obama is really doing it.
I think it's great. Every electoral vote counts.

10. That's my guess.
Howard Dean is both right and very serious about the 50 state strategy.

Four years ago I was living on the Kansas side of the Kansas City, Missouri, area. And I have to say that it made me very angry that hundreds, maybe thousands of good Kansas went across the state line to Kansas City to register voters and campaign for John Kerry, and so far as I could tell not a single Missourian came across to Kansas to help out a single Democrat running for office there. I should know. I was running for office (the Kansas State House) myself that year, and there was more than one weekend that I was trying to organize volunteers to go door-to-door with me only to be told, "I'm sorry, I'm canvassing for Kerry this weekend."

The fifty state strategy is, frankly, a far better idea.

3. That's weird. I live in Tulsa too
Now, I have seen more Obama bumperstickers and lawn signs than McCain, but not much, and I have a hard time believing Oklahoma - even Tulsa - going for him. The morons with the giant SUVs with fading Bush/Cheney tickets will be voting for McCain - they're just not enthusiastic enough about it to go through the effort of putting a bumper sticker on their gas guzzlers (although Palin may change that).

6. I see more faded "W" bumper stickers in Tulsa than I do McSame stickers.
And I'm definitely seeing more Obama stickers than McSame.

I can't imagine why they're spending the money to open an office here, but I'm sure they must have a good reason.

8. Hi fellow Okies...
Norman is obviously fairly blue. But Moore, just up 35...well, not so much. That's good news. I wish I was home-I'd drive to Tulsa for that!!
Have fun, you lucky ducks!

4. Obama is forcing mcPOW to spend money all ove the country.
He is bleeding him dry, making him compete in states that he shouldn't have to.

11. Well, he is shutting down offices here in Georgia.
So I guess he is transferring those staffers to Oklahoma. I think he is giving up on Georgia.

12. Helps down-ticket, I guees
And maybe we'll be able to squeeze out one county in OK this time. That would be one more than we won in 2004.

13. My take on this.... the Popular Vote
I believe the Obama campaign sees the same thing I do. The battleground state polling looks fantastic. But the polling nationwide is still close to even. I think they want to make sure that they win both the EV & the popular vote not just the EV. Plus, they might be trying to build a better organizational structure in the state for 2010 & 2012.

14. We got one in Phoenix, too. How "in your face" is that to McSame?!
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 08:49 AM by blondeatlast
It's a modest place, but damn were the attendees excited!

We also have some very important local races; we need that coattail effect; I think that's a big reason why.
