take into account new voters, even though we know there are alot of new dems in ohio, virginia and nevada and many others.

Theres your tie in the polls. IT ISN"T REAL and even the big number guy can't keep saying it.

He also said Obama has definitely changed the game and can even get the 270 without Ohio and Florida, which no one would have said would ever work. You had to have either of them or no win. But Obamas ground game 50 state plan has made the Electoral work even if he doesnt get them.

1. Thank goodness for that
We are probably headed for... not a huge win, but a significantly bigger one than the polls suggest. It will probably appear to be "down to the wire" but Obama will win with ~300 electoral votes, taking over half of the most contested swing states.

6. I've felt the Obama ground game will break MCain's back in this race
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 07:32 AM by mikekohr
There will be massive turnout. I've seen first hand here in Illinois Obama's organizational skills. For example Team Obama is sending 5,000 people a week to Iowa for a month or so and will continue untill election day. Reults? Iowa is now solidly behind Barack.

My prediction:

Obama 309ev
McCain 229ev

+15 to 20 in the House
+7 in the Senate

2. I watched that and couldn't figure out why Chuck Todd was savaged here yesterday. He...
essentially said that it would be difficult for Obama to lose this election. But even if he didn't, I thought the treatment of him was unfair. He deals with stats and numbers, I think, as best he can. I watch a lot of MSNBC, and I've never thought he was, as charged yesterday, a shill for McCain and the Right.

10. He is a shill that is on a leash to his corporate masters.
He shifts back and forth for the lunatic fringe within MSNBC and NBC who want to push their agenda and keep it a horse race.

KO later in the day, So morning he comes off as a shill because he says things that contradict what he says later.

14. Bingo ...
I have seen this with MOST of their "guests" finnemen ... They usually adapt their approach, tone and information to the host.

I still think Todd is a D - I just see that extra twinkle in his eyes when he talks about Ds.

But, I think it is crunch time and that the Rs are putting the screws to the corporate media, and with KO and them having the stones to actually put Rachel Maddow in, and Mathews trying to restore his Ds creds for a senate run, I think the next level people are REALLY under the gun to be at worst "Balanced." People have not forgotten Phil Donahue.

I have seen Todd to out of his way to marginalize BO with certain hosts and during the day time, just think he has as much of a self interest he is protecting as anyone else.

4. HUH!
Last night I sent an email to Todd asking him if his polls are problematic because so many new voters (the youth vote) are cell phone only owners, with no land line to poll them.

I did not get a reply from Todd, but this post makes me wonder if I made him wonder...Hmmmmmm....how many am I missing in the polls?

keep it up anymore because he knows in 4 days, the polls are going to flip and its going to be too much of a contrast to hide or slide by with.

15. This is Chuck Todd's new tune...The Chuck Todd Dilemma strikes again
What is the Chuck Todd Dilemma?

In order for him to be Super Famous Election Night Whiteboard Guy, the election has to be close, so he has to run with the horserace numbers.

BUT, in order not to lose all credibility, he has to be right, which means that when Obama wins by a lot, he can't be left holding the "it's SUPER close" bag at the end of the day.

SO, how does Chuck Todd deal with the Chuck Todd Dilemma? He keeps playing the horserace numbers, noting daily how very very close it is, while at the same time inserting a narrative that will undermine those very numbers. That way, he can be Super Famous Election Night Whiteboard Guy, while at the same time being able to point at the way he was RIGHT about it not being close (i.e., "Hey, listen, I was saying as far back as September that there could be serious undercounting of Obama votes in these polls, blah blah blah..."

Chuck Todd: Smart AND exciting! :sarcasm:

16. Polls are crap
All one has to do is look around to know that these polls are crap. Just look at the crowds and the donations.

I was visiting my mom in Fairborn, OH just two miles from the event when McCain announced Palin. They couldn't give tickets away in a town dominated by military people (Wright Patterson AFB). We expected horrible traffic-- nope, didn't happen. They said the event had 15,000 people. The Nutter Center at Wright State University only holds 15,000 and there were a lot of empty seats, so that was a lie.

I live in an area that is heavily Republican in Washington state. Last presidential election, there were "W" stickers and signs everywhere. I have yet to see any McCain stickers at all. I have seen dozens of Obama stickers, but not one McCain.

I just don't know who they are polling, but it really is amazing how out-of-touch with reality the polls are today. Utter crap.
