That is frustrating to say the least. I'll save my thoughts for later once I can wrap my mind around this.

4. There is no other option at this point....
too many people would lose everything they have. This isn't about the big people, it's about the little people. People need to think about that when they get all pissed off about the bailouts. The republicans have backed everyone into a corner on this.

5. Exactly.
I mean, what else can Obama do at this point?

This is, it seems to me, the only option available right now.

14. Absolutely true
The only other option is to let the banks fail and let a lot of people lose everything they have built up for all of their lives.

Senator Obama is doing the responsible thing, and for the right reasons.

6. I Agree
It's the old saw about when you owe the bank $1,000 you have a problem but if you owe the bank $100,000,000.00 they have a problem...

9. That may be true, but it still begs the question...
If we are going to provide billions in corporate welfare - what about the all the money NOT going to salvage foreclosed homes, returning vets, alternative energy etc.

Obama may support the bailout, but he should slam the pukes with the greed and deregulation which led to this mess. I can't fathom how we will pay off this debt?

10. That's what people are missing...
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 10:57 AM by 1corona4u
these companies go down, so do the people who have mortages with them. So goes their savings, and investments. As far as the vets, and energy, Obama will deal with that once he's in the WH. This will take baby steps. It's not going to happen over night. WE won't pay for it, the over 250K club will.

I live from paycheck to paycheck

wtf should these rich people be bailed out

I think the economy needs to collapse so we can start fresh

certainly all this tinkering is not going to help in the long run

18. If there's $80B being put out there to "help the little people,"
why are all the checks being made out to the corporations that helped get us into this mess? Sounds like more "trickle-down" to me. Where's the guarantee that all this will protect people's nest eggs?

may be endangered; but we shouldn't allow ourselves to become paranoid.

21. Biden was pretty much the same way but...
he said (and I'm sure Obama agreed) that if these companies want US Tax dollar bailout then these companies need to open their books for inspection.

I think that's fair enough!
