McCain Suspending Campaign to Go Back To Washington (Asks for Delay of Friday’s Debate) FoxNews | 9/24/08
Posted on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 12:52:13 PM by Qwackertoo
I just saw this on Fox News by Carl Cameron.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Just saw this...wow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Saw it too, with a direct challenge to Obama to do same
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo And Sarah Palin continues to draw thousands...
lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Just heard it myself. More info after break.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Just heard Carl report this too. McCain is challenging Obama to do the same thing. I wonder if he’ll bite?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo About time!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: BulletBobCo Obammy won’t suspend.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo "McCain Wants To Delay Debate To Focus On Financial Rescue" breaking on Business NewsWire
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Walking the walk on “Country First”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Raebie Debate Friday may be off..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: greatvikingone Isn’t this the last day of campaigning before the debate?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo AP reports it as:
NEW YORK (AP) — John McCain wants to delay debate with Obama to focus on economic crisis.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: justkate "Saw it too, with a direct challenge to Obama to do same" Obama is practicing for the debates. Do I smell a debate cancellation or postponement in the works?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Wants debate postponed.
(FNC) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: greatvikingone Now asking to delay the debate on Friday.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Not that McCain was doing all that well on the campaign trail. But he always seems to be one or two steps (days) behind what he should be doing. This smacks of a desperation move at this late stage.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: justkate The guy MIGHT be a genius at political campaigning.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: noexcuses Don’t tell ME he’s not a “maverick”...omg
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: InterceptPoint Obama will debate by himself...with teleprompter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Good move, Mac! Show you’re doing your job. Hussein can continue to do his job, running for president. Let the people decide.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Excellent-exactly the right thing to do...shows his commitment and leadership..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: dk88 Their still say suspending campaign AND delay debate on Friday.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Interesting move. Put McCain and Obama in Washington and let Palin and Biden hold the rallies. Better yet, Old Joe probably needs to return to Washington as well.
Genius. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo McCain the statesman. This will go over quite well. Very Presidential.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: WayneS The guy MIGHT be a genius at political campaigning. He is either a great genious and an incredible idiot. Time will tell.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: WayneS This move is genius. Palin is doing all the campaigning anyway. McBrilliant is doing it again!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Now that is how you lead! !@#$ yeah.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: BulletBobCo Obama will debate by himself...with teleprompter. And lose!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo He wants to be sure provisions for limiting executive compensation are included in any bill. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo All senators should be back at their posts in Washington.
That leaves Sarah out there alone.
I can live with that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: travelagent I had been hoping this week with Obama practicing for the debate for 3 days, probably longer than that, that at the LAST minute they’d switch it to Economic Policy instead.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo McCain may have a better chance of winning if he doesn’t campaign.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: justkate This seems to be a little too overly-dramatic on McCain’s part. Go back to Washington, fine...but no need to suspend the debate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo OMG talk about REAL LEADERSHIP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: CatOwner This smacks of a desperation move at this late stage. Not only that, it's a very risky move. IMO the outcome of the Paulson plan has been decided. The questions and comments at the hearing today demonstrate that. McCain might arrive at the dance five minutes after it's over.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: mass55th Just heard Carl report this too. McCain is challenging Obama to do the same thing. I wonder if he’ll bite? He'll vote present
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Obama won’t budge. He’s got too much practicing to do for the debate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: CatOwner Quote: “Not that McCain was doing all that well on the campaign trail. But he always seems to be one or two steps (days) behind what he should be doing. This smacks of a desperation move at this late stage.”
It smacks of a gutsy move albeit a gamble. His campaign’s theme is country first. I think he should simply state, “I was not willing to lose a war to win a campaign and I am not willing to win a campaign to ignore the crisis that the economy is in.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: justkate Saw it too, with a direct challenge to Obama to do same Smart move. That leaves Palin vs Biden on the campaign trail. I'll take that matchup.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: BulletBobCo "Obama will debate by himself...with teleprompter."
Obama is studying the answers to the wrong test. I will bet the debate questions will have to be changed to include the financial bailout. Screw the foreign policy discussion when your own country is in trouble. Obama will cry foul now that he won't have the correct answers before the debate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Rum Tum Tugger It’s also risky in the sense that this was to be the “Foreign Policy” debate, where McCain has a decided edge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: justkate Obama never went when it was in session, did he?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Retired Greyhound yeah that too rofl
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: TexasNative2000 Does 0bama follow McCain’s lead?
Rock meet hard place.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo On Drudge now. Sirens! LOL
Good move McCain. Good move.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: agere_contra I agree! Obama will look bad if he doesn’t agree, but is going to be ticked that it wasn’t his idea. He’s going to look like a follower and McCain a leader.
Nice move!
McCain/Palin ‘08. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Azzurri overly dramatic? it’s only the spot for the leader of the free world, with civilization in the balance against Islamic Extremism...
very smart move.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Qwackertoo Well, if Obama does decide to go back to Washington we can expect that whatever they come up with he’ll just raise his hand and say ‘PRESENT’.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To: Churchillspirit I think that no salaries ought to be paid to anyone on capital hill until they resolve this mess and I don’t mean by rubberstamping the 700 billion bail-out.
