Gustav - McCain goes down to Mississippi to checkout the supplies and prep. Obama doesn't go down because he does NOT want to divert resources from preparing for the Hurricane to escorting a presidential candidate.

Financial crisis - here we go again - McCain is going to go get in the way.

He is such a drama queen who never cares if his little drama acts actually make it harder to deal with the crisis.

Also - how much is left to be done?

A plugged in reader who's a Democratic lobbyist writes in with a good point:

The deal on the "bail out" is 98% done. Treasury has capitulated on almost every point. A draft is circulating on the Hill now. No one needs McCain to help do the remaining 2%....except the White House who has no standing on this matter on the Hill with either Democrats or Republicans.
