But from what I'm hearing, and I'm fairly close to the banking industry, the risk of much more dire circumstances is real and not unlikely. Six months ago or so, I held a different opinion, which I posted here on DU; I was wrong about how bad things actually were in the financial sector. I hope anyone who is against this plan has a plan B that is something other than "do nothing and hope for the best".

Republicans own the failure, and Obama will have more support to do whatever needs to be done when he finally gets in office.

Plus, the rest of the country will see just how drastic (or imaginary) this crisis really is.
