Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 12:20 PM by steve2470
He urged the R's to vote yes on bailout, despite possibly losing their re-election. I *think* he actually was sincere.

Color me shocked.

1. He gave a very strong speech.
This vote separates men from the boys.

2. If Boehner can give a speech without breaking down into tears...
... then it's a good day for Boehner. ;-)

He's more concerned about Eric Cantor (R-VA) challenging him for Minority Leader than he is about fixing one damned thing in Washington. Boehner is an embarrassment for Ohioans.

3. I think he meant it too. It didn't sound like Boehner's normal B.S. that I hear all the time.

4. My thought was "The crisis is so bad that even wing-nuts are putting country ahead of politics"
When House wing-nuts act for the good of the nation you KNOW it's a serious situation.

Actual patriotism is not something they come to easily.

17. Yes, it's always a conspiracy...
...and an endlessly suspicious nature is the greatest wisdom. Never let 'em fool you! :eyes:

5. A vote for the bailout is a vote FOR the country, at the expense of their careers.....

And anybody who votes for it should be commended..... but they won't. Their opponents will use it against them.

But that's ok... they would have saved the country.

7. I think the scenarios laid out in those closed door meetings
are shockingly desperate, and can't be allowed.

This isn't a good bill, but something is needed. I wish they could have fixed it the right way the first time. Who knows if the corrections will ever be made.

9. It's because the chickens have come home to roost for the Republican
failures and he has to admit it. This is serious shit! The criminals in the White House have destroyed the nation and it is obvious.
When criminals are caught red handed they have to tell the truth. There is nothing honorable in what Boehner has said. He had to be convinced by the tragic circumstance his party has put out precious country in. :dem:

14. He came thisclose to tearing up
They sure do want this bailout passed.

I wish I had a better understanding of this stuff, but I don't. I get the overview but not the particulars. Ultimately I think the bailout is designed to quell panic and help prevent bank runs. Other than that, I got nuthin'.
