Why so many voted against the bailout... Hint: upcoming election

That's right, those were not noble Rethugs and Democrats that were voting for the people, it was craven political creatures voting for their own selfish reasons. Just take a look at who voted against the bill. In general, politicians in close elections all voted against it, beating their chests with horribly misplaced rancor. Those about to retire voted for it, realizing the shit this country is in and doing what is best for it with no election on the line.

The bill will pass, it's just a matter of time. A stock market crash hurts everyone significantly more than a 700 billion dollar bailout. That should be BREATHTAKINGLY obvious.

There is such a thing as listening to constituents, and then there is such a thing as your constituents having no idea what the fuck is going on. Do you think most of America is too stupid to understand what is going on right now and what the implications are? Because I sure do.

Yeah! That would be great! Really, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! Politicians are meant to be representatives of the people, and I think we can all agree that the majority of the American people, many who do not vote mind you, are fucking morons, especially when it comes to something like this. Politicians take this into account and act as a barrier between the sudden urges of the masses, ones that can be very destructive to their own well being.

It is the will of the people in many places to keep gay marriage illegal, for example. Sometimes, you have to do what's right, not what's popular, otherwise democracy would suck.

They are supposed to do what is best for the country, not what is best for their of-the-moment politicking. They are not listening to the people, they are using them as a weak excuse to collectively shoot our country in the foot. Most people have no understanding of the crisis at hand, and have been told by right wing fiscal conservatives that the government is stealing money from the taxpayer to pay the rich. It's all a giant, ironic scheme! They believe in the all-mighty Free Market to make everything good and well again!

7. I don't know about that .....In my area the 2 Rep congresscritters

split the vote. Dan Lundgren, who is facing a challenge for the first time, voted for it.

But Doo-doo-little (retiring with wheelborrows full of cash) voted against it. (my district) I know this is not a race per se but it does kind of go along with the fact that in this district there is a very close race between McClintock and Charlie Brown.
