A new national poll suggests Barack Obama is taking the lead.

Likely voters nationwide:

Obama: 53 percent
McCain: 45 percent

That's the significant part. And yes, it's a nice spread - I think maybe because it might be beyond the margin of error - from the story:
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted by telephone on October 3-5. The survey questioned 1,006 people. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

It's not over yet, folks. A month is an eternity.
